We believe the bedroom is the most private space for a person and hence, should be designed to reflect one’s personality. Recently, we had the opportunity to design three bedrooms for three very distinct individuals at this Lodha Dioro home in Mumbai.
The Bedis came to Livspace to design three bedrooms in their expansive Cuffe Parade home. But here is the catch – each bedroom had to be customised to match the personality of its inhabitants. Our designer, Nishi Jain, took up the challenge and delivered three absolutely unique bedrooms for this family. Hence, the designer has used mature greys for the master bedroom where Rachna and Mohit Bedi stay, and it has functional storage options. Further, the daughter’s bedroom encompasses her personality with a refreshing colour palette and vintage style elements. Last but not the least, the son’s room has a balmy vibe with pops of yellow and playful elements in plenty.

Lodha Dioro Home: Master bedroom is glamorous in grey

The master bedroom of this Lodha Dioro duplex is glamorously grey and tastefully minimal. The bed is a mix of grey acrylic and woody laminate that matches the grey wall colour behind it. The cluster of luminous pendant lights hanging in one corner is the accent piece for this room. It is suitably bright, lending a touch of shine to the subdued greys. Interestingly, the bed has profile LED lights under it. If you walked into this room when it is dark save the strip of lighting, you would think that the bed is a floating one!

Cove lights in the ceiling highlight the two-door wardrobe that has grey acrylic in this bedroom. However, the real star of the show lies behind the frosted glass sliding door; an open walk-in wardrobe with laminate shutters awaits you on the other side. The wardrobes in the walk-in cabinet are custom-made semi-modular installations that have been made to fit the available space.

As you can see, there is no dearth of wow elements in this room; the media wall is another tick on a long list of attractions. It has a gorgeous backlit acrylic panel and woody laminate shelves as well as base cabinet to match the composition of the bed and ensure continuity of design.

“Nishi & the Livspace team designed each of the three bedrooms immaculately and they have turned out just as we wanted them. We were very impressed with the quality of work as the team could help us get semi-modular furniture, something that is not so easy to come by.”

Lodha Dioro Home: Pretty pastels for the daughter’s room

Our favourite bedroom in this Lodha Dioro duplex is the daughter’s room for its sheer dreaminess. Guess what? It is also Rachna’s favourite bedroom in the house. And our designer tells us that she put the maximum amount of effort behind this room, so it was definitely worth the while! Mannat, the daughter of the family, was very particular about the colour palette she wanted for her room. Essentially, the colour she wanted could be called aqua green or pastel green depending on your perspective. In combination with white, this colour recreates an aura of Ariel’s undersea palace.

We certainly didn’t miss out on the personalisation of the headboard that mimics an appliqued blanket and also sports the young lady’s name. Mannat is a nature lover and the floral and plant motifs on the headboard are an ode to her love for nature. The dresser by the mirror has a full-length mirror that is requisite for any girl’s room. What makes it special is the lamp post-like wall light that is rather Victorian, adding some period drama to this room in Lodha Dioro.

The gorgeous side tables and wardrobes we designed in white PU with country-style grooves goes with the fairytale theme of this room. Moreover, the study table has been built into the wardrobe and is accompanied by a blue chair. In fact, we are totally crushing on the white curtains in this room that have thick blue borders with playful prints and you will too!
Lodha Dioro Home: A boyish charm for the son’s room

This Lodha Dioro duplex has a room done up to fit the taste of their young son as well and it portrays a completely different personality. It is bright, playful and fun, just something a teenage boy would want his room to be. The boy in question is Hunar and he likes bright colours, and hence, the vibrant yellow pops in his room do justice to his taste.
Essentially, the matte grey laminate is a design choice that provides a subtle background for the yellow to shine. But that is not all, the grey laminate is in fact an anti-fingerprint material. Hence, there will be no telling trails of fingerprints on the wardrobe shutters no matter how much he uses them.

The bed in this room has a low headboard to give precedence to the white exposed brick wallpaper. Moreover, there are touches of playfulness everywhere starting with the backlit panel installed behind the bed. he three pendant lights over the study table resemble footballs. In fact, the study table itself is an end-to-end floating ledge that consumes minimal space.

Hunar translates to talent in English so we aren’t surprised at just how gifted this young man is. He wanted a space to display all the trophies he has won. Hence, the shelves have a half open-half shuttered design. Essentially, the shuttered racks are for storing books and the open racks for display. And just when you thought that this room couldn’t get more interesting, our designer pulls out another trick from her kitty. The glossy yellow PU panels also conceal the TV. Basically, the cabinet opens up to display the TV, the rest is for storage.
“The Bedis were very sorted in terms of their requirements. They wanted each bedroom to reflect a personality. Moreover, they needed semi-modular furniture to fit their space to a T. I was thrilled for the opportunity to work on this project because the scope for design was immense.”
