We’re all used to choosing one colour for our kitchens that will last a good few years and be flexible with changes! But that choice can be a hard one to make given all the beautiful colours in the market, and can take away the opportunity to do something fun with the space! That’s where this trend comes in handy. Dual or two-toned kitchen cabinets are in, and how! We’ve put together some kitchen design images to inspire a makeover in your kitchen! Take a look!

Kitchen Design Image #1

kitchen design images

Agreed, this one’s not for the faint-hearted, but the orange really adds life to what would otherwise be a plain white kitchen. You can add other orange elements to complement the look!

Kitchen Design Image #2

kitchen design images

If you’ve got the space and prefer soothing shades, opt for this colour combination for the heart of your home. Add contrasting shades in your furniture or accessory choices.

Kitchen Design Image #3

kitchen design images

The wooden grains keep things warm while the white overhead cabinets keep things looking spacious. This look works for everyone!

Kitchen Design Image #4

kitchen design images

Add two contrasting shades and a quirky backsplash to keep things fun, especially if it’s an open kitchen! You only have to be young at heart for designs like this.

Kitchen Design Image #5

kitchen design images

If you’re one for sober shades, we recommend this one. The wood on white with a blue backsplash keeps things light and breezy!

Kitchen Design Image #6

kitchen design images

We love it when our designers play around with usual colours but manage to turn it into a stunner!

Kitchen Design Image #7

kitchen design images

Grey and black doesn’t necessarily have to be dull! If you have an open layout with plenty of natural light, you should try out this combination!

Kitchen Design Image #8

kitchen design images

Purple and white, with a dash of pale pink as the backsplash makes things quite interesting, don’t you think?

Kitchen Design Image #9

kitchen design images

Glossy finishes for the orange paired with matte finish for the white is what summer in Tuscany would look like! Does this look like your next kitchen?

Kitchen Design Image #10

kitchen design images

This is one of our all-time favourite combinations – red and white in high gloss finishes! Exciting, fun and easy to maintain!

Kitchen Design Image #11

kitchen design images

Looking for a more subtle combination? How about olive green with wooden grains? Add a complementary backsplash to the milieu!

Kitchen Design Image #12

kitchen design images

Since the wooden grain with white/off white combination is so popular, we gave it a slight twist with a Moroccan tile backsplash! Don’t you love how it looks?

Kitchen Design Image #13

kitchen design images

Two-tone kitchens usually have the same format – darker colour for the bottom shelves and lighter colours for the overhead shelves. This is to create the illusion of spaciousness.

Kitchen Design Image #14

kitchen design images

Compact but beautiful, this kitchen is instantly pleasing to the onlooker! We’ve used geometric tiles for the backsplash.

Kitchen Design Image #15

kitchen design images

Add a pop of colour like this stunning yellow to your kitchen if you want to turn heads!

Kitchen Design Image #16

kitchen design images

We’ve increasingly noticed people opting for fiery red in their kitchens for this impressive look! This works best with open kitchens.

Kitchen Design Image #17

kitchen design images

This L-shaped kitchen design employs wine and white for a toned-down but elegant look.

Kitchen Design Image #18

kitchen design images

While you can use the wood and white combination, ask your designer to add open cabinets in contrasting shades to keep things interesting!

Kitchen Design Image #19

kitchen design images

A dash of wine and you’re set to show off your dual-toned urban kitchen!

Kitchen Design Image #20

kitchen design images

Yellow works with grey too! These contrasting shades are great for those with fun personalities and like to keep reinventing.

Kitchen Design Image #21

kitchen design images

If white and wine aren’t enough, breathe life into the kitchen by adding a contrasting backsplash! Fresh and fun, we would recommend you try this out!

Kitchen Design Image #22

kitchen design images

Grey is also popularly paired with red, especially when there is the leverage of space.

Kitchen Design Image #23

kitchen design images

Cool and refreshing, this kitchen design is for those who want to play it safe!

Kitchen Design Image #24

kitchen design images

Stick to popular colours but get an offbeat layout if the space allows it.  This reading nook is great for kids to catch up with their parents as they cook.

Kitchen Design Image #25

kitchen design images

The pop of colour here in this kitchenette is the warm yellow tiles given for the backsplash. You could make these small changes for a great makeover!

Kitchen Design Image #26

kitchen design images

We believe this red adds energy and excitement to this kitchen at Sharal Moras’ home. Check out their home for all the vibrant colours used!

Kitchen Design Image #27

kitchen design images

White on wood with a lemony backsplash, Feroze Khan’s Livspace home has a lot of interesting elements. The wicker baskets complement the wooden grains of the top cabinets in this kitchen. We love the earthy and warm vibes of this setup!

Kitchen Design Image #28

kitchen design images

Roshni Mitra’s contemporary home also has a two-toned kitchen which has been kept subtle but functional!

Kitchen Design Image #29

kitchen design images

Another example of keeping it subtle with pops of colour is in Tarun Rakhendranath’s Livspace home. We believe this design is one for the ages!

Kitchen Design Image #30

Blue and grey is another favourite amongst our clients, including Shaheen Farooqui. It inspires culinary experiments and supports the chef with its functional elements.

A Cheery Kitchen Dressed in Retro Vibes

This farmhouse style kitchen with a cheery yellow is a treat for sore eyes.

Who livs here: Sonia Puri

Location: DLF Phase 1, Gurgaon

Kitchen Size: 170 sqft

Design team: Interior Designer Nilisha Keshri with Quality Managers Harshika Allawadhi and Deepankar Khattar

Livspace service: Kitchen design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

Sonia Puri’s Gurgaon home is an ode to country-style interiors. She wanted her kitchen to pop with some bright colours. Thus, she decided to renovate it. Nilisha Keshri, her Livspace designer decided to keep the essence of the country-style while giving it a vibrant twist.

She employed Laguna yellow cabinets paired with black handles and countertop. In addition, she added an exposed brick wall for the backdrop and wooden rafters to complete the look. This kitchen is a tribute to the 1970s classic kitchens. As simple as it sounds, the design took time and effort to think through the right colour options and revision of the layout.

Country-style Living

kitchen interior design

While the kitchen gives a retro look on the outside, the inside is filled with modern hardware like stainless steel drawers, wicker baskets to ensure ease of use. Since the kitchen is handled by a servant, a fuss-free design with ample practical options were offered.

kitchen interior design

Efficiency and functionality are the core principles of any kitchen. And to make this possible, the design offers ample space for movement with handy accessories for systematic storage.

Warm Wooden Notes

kitchen interior design

The kitchen also houses a crockery unit. Nilisha picked the wooden tones to match the windows and doors as too much yellow would be overpowering. In order to keep the setting airy, glass shutters are introduced. This carries all the cutlery and easy-to-display fancy crockery.

kitchen interior design

The sink unit, however, finds its place in a wet area in the storeroom. A patterned-film is used on the window to block the view of this area. A pendant light is the major source of light, keeping the retro feel intact instead of fancy ambient lighting options.

Nostalgic Memories

kitchen interior design kitchen interior design

We love how farmhouse style shelves enhance the beauty of this kitchen. Doesn’t this remind you of the summer vacations spent at your granny’s when you were young?

A Moroccan Addition

kitchen interior design

For ease of handling, the hob and chimney were moved to the centre of the kitchen. Thus, a small wall replaced an existing window which was decorated with Moroccan tiles for a striking contrast.

kitchen interior design

Country style in itself makes the kitchen visually heavy. Thus, to let the ambience take on a light and inviting appeal, wall units were minimised.

“Sonia Puri knew what she wanted and engaged in the design through and through, despite her busy schedule. I’m happy about how the country style design is the highlight of the final outcome.”

A simple kitchen design perked up with a piquant lime green hue.

small kitchen design mumbai

Who livs here: Sachin Nambiar with his wife Bhavya and 5-yr-old daughter Nandini

Location: Runwal Greens, Mulund, Mumbai

Home Size: 2.5 BHK

Design team: Interior Designer Kanwaldeep Kaur (Kd) with Quality Managers Ramesh C. Parmar and Anthony

Livspace service: Kitchen design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

After scouring through the portfolios of many interior designers and firms, Sachin Nambiar and his wife Bhavya ventured upon Livspace by chance. That’s where they met Kanwaldeep Kaur, their designer, who gave them ample options to suit their requirements. The couple couldn’t find any other vendor who could match all their preferences. This led them to seal the deal!

The trio sat through many meetings to finalise the colour and design for the kitchen. As Bhavya was intent on communicating with her family while cooking, a pass-through window made its way into the plan. A citrusy lime green shade was finalised to match their south Indian taste, while lots of storage space was added to the design.

The Chat Window!

small kitchen design mumbai

The pass-through window gives the compact kitchen an airy feel while being a conversation starter. We’re sure this is a fun spot for the family to enjoy sumptuous snacks and catch up on the day’s events.

small kitchen design mumbai

As the parallel kitchen is compact, loading it with storage units was definitely a task. But at Livspace, we cater to every need. Thus Kanwaldeep was able to offer units to fit seamlessly into the kitchen. The designer also changed the flooring to a wooden one, to bring in warmth and made sure it matches with the outline of the pass-through window for a rich look.

small kitchen design mumbai

Functionally, the kitchen features a perfect work triangle with the sink, hob and refrigerator placed at equal distance to each other. This makes movement in the kitchen easy and efficient.

Easy Storage
small kitchen design mumbai

The pantry unit stocks up enough groceries to sustain the family’s needs. This is handy as Bhavya was eager to stack all the kitchen essentials in an organised fashion.

small kitchen design mumbai

Tandem drawers, cutlery units, bottle pull outs and shelves find their place in the design to make cooking easy. It also makes sure that Bhavya doesn’t have to strain herself while she flaunts her culinary skills.

For the Bright Look

small kitchen design mumbai small kitchen design mumbai

Open shelves and cabinets with glass and aluminium shutters give the kitchen a bright and airy feel. The balance is necessary as too many closed units can be visually overwhelming. It also makes finding essentials effortless.

small kitchen design mumbai

The grey and white backsplash infuses a supple and graceful appearance. It brings together the whole look from the black countertop to the ivory wall modules.

“The Nambiar’s are sweet clients who are very understanding and cooperative. We had detailed discussions on the design from aesthetics to functionality before we zeroed in on the final output.”
— Kanwaldeep Kaur, Livspace Interior Designer

A Storage-Friendly White Kitchen Design

A space-maximised white kitchen design in Mumbai that looks wonderful!

White kitchen design

Who livs here: Samir Jha with his wife Sharda Jha and three kids

Location: The Address, Ghatkopar West, Mumbai

Size of kitchen: 180 sq ft. approx.

Design team: Interior Designer Hansika Mota with Quality Manager Ramesh Chhogalal Parmar

Livspace service: Kitchen design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

For Samir and Sharda Jha, moving into a new home meant the family could spend more time together. A businessman by profession, Samir, has always been comfortable living in Ghatkopar since his office lies in the vicinity. In the maximum city, we are guessing that’s very important! Otherwise, one could easily lose out on family time with the endless travel. Another thing they really wanted for this new home was a big beautiful kitchen. This is where we come in.

In stepped Livspace and designer Hansika Mota, with a goal to give them the kitchen they wanted, and needed. Hansika understood the vibe of the clients and gave them some superb designs, and modules which were absolutely necessary. This kitchen is fully equipped, with an air conditioner in place as well. Say hello to family time in the kitchen! Take a tour.

Snowy Kitchen

White kitchen design

White kitchen design
Sameer and Shardha had one requirement in place when they asked Hansika to remodel their kitchen, they wanted every corner of the space to be utilised. That’s precisely why Haniska gave them customised units and cabinets that extend to the ceiling. She broke down the earlier L-shaped layout and gave them an extra counter next to the entrance. As soon as you enter the kitchen, you see the roller shutter on the left, which can store their appliances. Next to that is the extra worktop with the microwave unit.
White kitchen design

Classy Combination
White kitchen design

Since the family has four kids and two helpers, they wanted a kitchen where at least four people could work together at once. Therefore, Hansika gave the couple a superb solution, wherein, she suggested two sinks — one for washing utensils and another for washing fruits and vegetables. This setting enables two people to work at once.

White kitchen design
Well, talking about the modules and finishes used in this kitchen, you can find the best of everything here. Hansika has given them modules like tandem boxes, spice racks, bottle pull-outs, drawers and so on. A combination of shelves and cabinets that extend to the ceiling, make sure that they can store a lot of stuff in here. To add a dash of colour, she gave them dark citrus open shelves above the hob area, which is a treat to the eyes! The rest of the cabinetry is given in frosty white acrylic finish, just like the couple wanted.

A Pull-out Breakfast Counter

White kitchen design
White kitchen design
A very unique factor in this large kitchen is the provision of a pull-out breakfast counter just under the roller shutter cabinet. It extends up to three feet and easily accommodates two people. Since there are four kids in the house, it makes it very easy for Shardha to keep an eye on them while they enjoy their meals in the kitchen itself. The white acrylic finish is easy to clean, so no more worrying about food stains!
White kitchen design

“The biggest challenge in this kitchen design was the fact that I had to change the entire layout of the space. Since they wanted a lot of storage, I had to give them large drawers and lofts. Given that they had the colour scheme and basic requirements in place, it was very easy to design for them. I enjoyed my experience with the Jhas.”

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

—————————–

Who livs here: Abhijit Kaisare with his wife Tanushree and children Anaya and Aniket

Location: Brigade Cosmopolis, Whitefield Main Road, Bangalore

Size of home: 3 BHK spanning, 1720 sq ft approx.

Design team: Interior Designer Aditi Badaya with Quality Manager Guru Vinayak

Livspace service: Full home design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹

——-——————–

Abhijit Kaisare and his wife Tanushree Pandit are hard-working, creative and family-oriented, much like a lot of young families that reside in the bustling city of Bengaluru. When their first home at Brigade Cosmopolis was ready to be handed over, they considered a lot of vendors for the interiors. However, they were not quite impressed. And with carpenters, they couldn’t visualise the decor.

All they wanted was a one-stop-shop for their interior needs, and to work with someone who understood their tastes and preferences well. Their search eventually ended with Livspace and their meeting with designer Aditi Badaya. What really clicked in this collaboration is the fact that Tanushree had a clear idea of what she wanted her home to look like, down to the last detail. This made things relatively easy for Aditi who then brought her vision to life. What ensued were many shopping trips, midnight calls and iterations, one that led to this beautiful home design. The idea was to be simply luxurious, without being gaudy. Take a look and let us know if you think they achieved their goal!

Warmth in the Welcome

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

Being a creative person herself, Tanushree wanted contemporary interiors but with warmth that tradition brings. Keeping the fact that someone as creative as Tanushree would tire of her interiors soon, Aditi suggested they keep all the fixed furniture in neutral, muted shades like Walnut Brown and Champagne White. This would leave Tanushree plenty of room to play around with the accessories, decor and furnishings, at a lower cost.

The entertainment unit is basic, but sleek, and complements everything else in the living room. The Walnut Brown gives a feel of veneer at the cost of laminate. Aditi also convinced the couple to get false ceiling and lights done which add so much character to the room! She also put in a pelmet to raise the height of the curtains and conceal the fittings. Top that off with sheer curtains in white, it gives the room a light and airy feel.

Simple Dining Spaces

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

Open dining spaces that link the kitchen to the living can be quite tricky. Sometimes it’s the simplest solutions that work in tricky situations. A simple six-seater dining table is complemented by a crockery cabinet. What’s interesting is that Aditi put in a mirror between the overhead and bottom cabinets to make the room look more spacious! It also looks like a semi-partition between the dining and kitchen.

Kitchen Delight

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

Going with their mantra of keeping it light and simple, but classy in approach, they picked out Champagne White for the kitchen cabinets. Aditi says, “While Tanushree paid a lot of attention to the look and Abhijit concentrated on the execution, the both of them did not want to compromise on quality.” This kitchen is top-notch with soft close handleless (for the overhead) cabinets, frosted shutters to break the monotony, tandem drawers and all the essential accessories installed.

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

Take a look at this stunning backsplash which is an assortment of mix-n-matched Mediterranean printed tiles in muted shades. When you’re seated in their living room, your eyes are drawn to it automatically! It clearly is the highlight of the kitchen.

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

For someone who loves to cook, Tanushree needed lots of storage and counter space. So Aditi combined the kitchen and utility area, and also put in space for their oven and microwave.

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

White gives illusion of space while keeping it classy. What a lovely zone to indulge in some culinary experiments! Happy cooking to you, Tanushree!

In a Nutshell

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

Mastery Over Wooden Tones

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

This well-lit apartment could afford to use more wooden tones, so they installed wooden flooring in all bedrooms. The master bedroom got furniture and wardrobes in the same shades to keep the vibe warm and cosy to envelop you at the end of a long day. The only exception is the loft that’s been done up in white to lighten the look. It worked, we think!

Cheerful Kids Room

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

Again, staying flexible to changes in the future, the kids room is done up in all white with pops of colour in the decor. This room is shared by Anaya and Aniket, and we love the study corner next to the window. Aditi put in a tall storage unit next to it for their books.

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

Their four-door wardrobe is also a simple matter – done up in glossy white, but with lots of storage space including the loft.

Hear It From Them!

Home Design at Brigade Cosmopolis

“Tanushree is the only customer I’ve had who was this involved and interested in how their home turned out. She wanted an emotional connect with the decor. So I was very happy to design this home that included so much of the family’s taste. And while they were concerned about the look, quality always took precedence. That’s a great kind of client to have. We’ve also become good friends over time!

Every little corner in this Bangalore house has been put to good use! Read on, you’ll see what we’re talking about.

Bangalore house images

Who livs here: Mahesh Reddy with his wife Bharati and son Bobby

Location: RMZ Galleria, Yelahanka, Bangalore

Size of home: 3 BHK spanning, 1500 sq ft approx.

Design team: Interior Designer Pragna Krishna with Quality Manager Prashant Rao

Livspace service: Full home design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹

Set in the super high end apartments in North Bengaluru, RMZ Galleria is a world on it’s own. Complete with all conceivable amenities and recreational facilities, this property promotes a Utopian living environment, where deals can be struck over a game of tennis or by the pool table. It is like a dream come true to own a house in this property!

Let’s step into Mahesh Reddy’s home, that is designed under the expert supervision of Livspace interior designer, Pragna Krishna and her superb team! We assure you, once you take a tour of this home, you will be left asking for more..

Utilitarian Foyer

Bangalore house images

Every now and then comes along a foyer design that isn’t too heavy visually or gaudy. Since the entryway forms the first impression, Pragna gave the couple a simple shoe rack with closed and open shelves and seating space. To keep things light on the top, she gave two wall-mounted glass ledges that add an element of style!

An Impressive Living

Bangalore house images

Bangalore house images

They wanted a living room where the focus is not just on the television, but on get-togethers. Therefore, despite the huge space, she gave them a compact L-shaped sofa and the chair forming a “chat zone”.

The living room is an extension of Mahesh’s personality, since it is done up in a muted colour palette. Contemporary greys and whites dominate this space, with pewter-hued sofas and sheer drapes in grey. Pragna added pops of yellow and the bubble burst accent chair is such a conversation starter. The bronze mirror finished wall is the entrance to the pooja room, and it looks so offbeat. Talk about stand-out elements at home!

Bangalore house images

The wall behind the TV unit was a long wall, that Pragna decided to break with the wall-mounted glass ledges, that are also present in the foyer and the floor lamp. This was done to separate the foyer from the living room. The TV unit is in sync with the contemporary theme of the home and is finished in glossy slate grey laminate. It’s a simple TV unit with basic cabinets and a ledge for display.

Divine Spaces

Bangalore house images

The pooja room is as simple as it can get, with a walnut brown pooja unit and the jaali back panel with “om” etched on it. A hanging brass bell and a lamp on either side of the unit add ethnicity to this space.

Bangalore house images

On the other side, there’s a simple wall-mounted pooja unit with light and dark wood keeping each other company.

Wine & Dine at Home

Bangalore house images

The dining room is so classy that it is our personal favourite in this home. Just look at the lovely wooden slats for the false ceiling, with spotlights and modern pendant lights that enhance the beauty of this space. You can spot pops of yellow in this area in the dining chairs. The glass top dining table with splayed, wooden legs blend in with the wooden flooring seamlessly.

Bangalore house images

The bench is such a flawless addition to this room, set against the unique crockery unit. This crockery unit is not the usual base unit. It features various levels of storage, with the base unit falling below waist level. What is special about it, you ask? Well, it is very easy to use and facilitates serving during lunches and dinners. The glass shutter cabinets are used to show off exclusive cutlery.

Set in a wall niche, the bar unit sports a glass back panel. The glass panel reflects light and opens up the space!

A Chirpy Parallel Kitchen

Bangalore house images

Bangalore house images

The kitchen in this home is a cheery spot to be in. With bright yellow tiles for the backsplash, and white and grey cabinetry, this kitchen enjoys a good contrast of colours.

Equipped with modules like tandem boxes, tall unit, spice racks, bottle pull-outs and drawers, this is the everyday cook’s paradise. The couple’s son can utilise the extra counter as a breakfast counter for quick snacks!

A Loaded Master Bedroom

Bangalore house images

There is so much in the master bedroom that one can easily miss out on the details. Once again done up in dreamy blues and whites, with a biscotti accent wall for company, this room is a haven for the couple. They wanted a spot to display their memories from their travels, so Pragna gave them a niche with space for their photos, accompanied by ledges for display.

A frosty white sliding wardrobe with a mirror panel in between takes care of their storage needs.

Bangalore house images

Bangalore house images

One of the most striking features of this room is the enthralling seating area beside the window. Since this apartment rests on the 13th floor of the high-rise, the couple can enjoy a cup of coffee or a good book while gazing at the breathtaking view outside. The TV unit is minimalistic, with basic cabinets and shelves for display.

A Blue Boy’s Room

The son’s bedroom is everything that a growing kid’s bedroom should look like. Complete with a blue striped wallpaper and a trundle bed, this room carries a chilled-out vibe.

The guest bedroom is clearly an extension of Bharti’s choices and preferences. She loves all things bright, and managed to convince Mahesh to design this room according to her liking. Thus, the stark difference between the colour schemes in the rest of the home and this room happened.

We love how Pragna has infused the room with the fire element in the accent wall and added a cool 3D wall for effect.

The cozy seating near the window remains constant and the rest of the look is minimal!

“As soon as I met Mahesh, he told me one thing — he wanted a home that stands out. I picked up my cue from there and decided that this home has to be designed perfectly. I gave them a contemporary home with some design twists here and there! It was amazing to design for the Reddys, since they were very accommodating and open to new ideas.”

– Pragna Krishna, Interior Designer, Livspace

Did you love this elaborate home design? Well, we bet you’ll love this Bengaluru home as well!

A Mumbai home enriched with metallics, colours and patterns for a luxurious look.

Regretting the decision of not hiring an interior designer for their first home, Jaishankar Jayaram and his wife Aishwarya were eager to get professional support for their new abode. Lodha Fiorenza was the wife’s dream home owing to the spacious living and dining room to entertain her guests. Thus, she approached Livspace when she found us on social media.

Hansika Mota, their Livspace designer, was able to charm them through her expertise by offering aesthetically appealing suggestions along with keen attention to the technical aspects. Aishwarya was floored by the designer’s capability to provide a fully functional design.

A Golden Impression

Lodha Fiorenza home decor

The builder had provided many interior elements like the golden TV ledge in the living room, and wall panels and niches for the wardrobe in every bedroom. Hansika captured every element and made designs that accommodate them seamlessly. Thus, the living room takes on a gold and blue palette inspired by the ledge.

The rich ensemble — with golden hues, a sink-in Chesterfield sofa and a marble top centre table — oozes luxury. The stylish jali partition also adds to the plush setting as the cobalt blue highlights the golden accents.

A cosy corner with two chairs and a wall hung bookshelf lets Aishwarya enjoy her pastime. A stunning jali door beside it opens to a compact, yet beautiful pooja corner.

The Metallic Infusion

Lodha Fiorenza home decor Lodha Fiorenza home decor

The theme is extended to the dining room with blue upholstered seating, a glass top table and a stylish crockery unit. The room also features a copper glass panelling that is a trending feature in interior design today.

A Muted Contrast

Lodha Fiorenza home decor Lodha Fiorenza home decor Lodha Fiorenza home decor

The master bedroom has a veneer panel with brown and cream peacock feather prints. Working around this feature, a blue and white theme is introduced. A chalk blue padded headboard gives it a graceful look.

The room has ample storage options like a swing door wardrobe with a built-in TV unit and, a blue and white sliding wardrobe and a mirrored storage unit. Aishwarya is proud of how her home is clutter-free owing to the many hidden storage options.

A LEGO Room

The kids’ room is compact, making it a challenge to work with. Hansika spent a day or two with the kids and came to a conclusion that though they were naughty, they were equally active. Thus, a lego-inspired room with a bunk bed and heaps of hidden storage units were offered along with a compact study.

A chalkboard adorns the blank wall, which was another thoughtful decision as Aradhya, Jaishankar’s daughter, is into doodling.

Plush in Purple

The guest room is splashed with purple and grey hues to match the wall panelling. In addition, the sliding wardrobe has a mirrored door which doubles up as a dressing corner. It also gives the compact room a bright and spacious feel.

“The family is really enthusiastic and lively, and designing a home for them was a smooth process. I aimed at giving their home a rich look by including the existing elements the builder provided.”

Deepak Ganesan and his wife Charanya Nagaraj are a vivacious couple who take pride in their tradition and culture. Thus, it would only be fitting for their home to have a traditional theme with an inviting look. Their home is a 3BHK in Sumadhura Pranavam which surrounded by lush greens and little water bodies. It makes for a refreshing place to walk around in.

The couple believes that high-rise apartments are mostly standard and lack a cosy and personal touch. We couldn’t agree more as the setting is a perfect respite from the chaotic city life. Encouraged by a friend’s recommendation, they visited Livspace and met their designer Hamsa Ganesan who also hailed from the same traditional background. This proved to be the bonding factor, making it easy to narrow down on the right colour palettes and designs.

A Traditional Welcome

home design

Deepak was upfront that this was the first time his family had engaged with a designer to do up their interiors. He had a rigid notion that an aesthetically appealing home design required a compromise on functionality. However, Hamsa offered stylish designs which were practical too.

home design

The duo was intent on retaining a classic sofa set and to match it, a peacock-printed wallpaper was introduced. The wall panelling behind the TV unit took colour inspiration from the blue hues of the print and conceals the wires and electrical points. A mix of open and closed storage gives it an airy look while offering ample space to stack books and knick-knacks.

An Ounce of Modern

home design

“When I take a vacation, I want to feel the difference between the hotel ambience and my home. Hence, I didn’t want my home interiors to be very fancy,” says Deepak. Thus, recessed lights in a simple false ceiling design took shape.

home design

The dining room also houses a stylish crockery unit. To be honest, the base units mostly act as a bookshelf to store their fine collection. The Rama green finish is rich and luxuriant in its appearance making it the show stealer.

Bow with Reverence

home design

The apartment initially was designed with three bathrooms, which the pair felt unnecessary. Thus, the third bathroom was requested as an empty space which then got converted into a pooja room. Stunning lamp decals matching the kitchen cabinet colours adorn the wall beside its entrance.

A Trending Colour

home design

The kitchen is dressed in an empowering colour combination of white and Rama green. An intriguing design that is definitely a showstopper in terms of functionality as well. The L-shaped kitchen was given an extension to form a U-shape which added storage and counter space for ease in cooking.

home design

This enticing backsplash brings together the white wall units with the Rama green base storage. The delicate floral pattern adds grace and charm to the setting.

home design

From drawers to shelves, the kitchen is packed with storage options to render cooking a simple task. The designer mindfully provided open shelves below the wall modules to access frequently-used masalas easily. There is also a separate utility area which has a double sink and a washing machine designed to suit the wife’s preference.

home design

The grinder finds refuge in a separate place beside the refrigerator with a strip of backsplash tiles and a stand-alone module. This makes using and storing the appliance effortless.

Balance of Hues

home design

The master bedroom takes on a navy blue and grey combination. The subtle wallpaper offers a relaxing vibe with pretty floral patterns that are easy on the eyes.

home design

The wardrobe here is a navy blue and white mix. “We ensured we planned the shutter colours so that it doesn’t replicate a piano design,” says Hamsa. Since, the duo is used to folding their clothes, more shelves were provided as opposed to hanging units.

home design

A dresser also shares the space flanked by two stylish shelves. This makes storing cosmetics and accessories effortless for Charanya.

Soothing and Snug

home design

The parents’ bedroom is simple with a traditional wooden bed and grey-yellow accent wall. Also, to highlight the wall, shelves have been added.

home design

A super functional wardrobe with lofts holds not just their apparels, but also heavy luggage and suitcases. Grey and ivory blend well and give it an elegant look. The designer maintained enough gap between the door and wardrobe for two reasons — space to open the door and make the room appear visually light upon entering it.

Playful Vibes

home design

Potentially meant to be a kids room in the future, the third room is dyed in lime green colour. The colour is not just refreshing but also gives it a playful vibe. A white wardrobe is just the right balance it needs to make it appealing and visually light. However, the sleek study is Deepak’s workspace currently.

home design

“It was a smooth process working with the couple as we were on the same page in terms of choices and preferences. Rama green is an unusual colour which I wanted to highlight by giving the right mix of colours in the kitchen.”

— Hamsa Ganesan, Livspace Interior Designer

Size of home: 1 BHK spanning 900 sq ft approx.

Design team: Interior Designer Vidhi S with Quality Manager Naresh Beed

Livspace service: Full home design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

Hailing from Rajasthan and residing in Mumbai for more than a decade now, Amit and Ami Sanghvi, finally decided to change their house design. Livspace just clicked for them, since the time frame and the idea of getting end-to-end interior design services appealed to them.

When we got talking to Vidhi, the designer of this beautiful home makeover, she told us that she opted for a muted palette for this home, with specks of metallics in every corner. Why, you ask? Well, when she started designing the Sanghvi’s home, one thing was clear, she had to keep the look and feel of the space elegant and classy. Once you take a look at this home, will you know what we’re talking about.

A Lavish Living Room

House design

This living room is the definition of class and elegance. As you step in, you are invited by velvety Chesterfield sofas in a delicious cream hue. The centre table is also an extension of this trendy fabric and is fully upholstered, which makes it unique. The slate grey Mica accent wall looks fetching in this room, while the abstract print chaise adds a dash of colour to this elegant living room.

House design

The wall behind the TV sports veneer slats that add the much-needed warmth to this area. The marble panel plays match with the flooring, while the TV base unit is minimal, with shelves for the set-top box and other essentials. Spot lights set the mood right, for family entertainment and get-togethers.

A Display Area-cum-Foyer

House design

House design

The foyer has a striking brass-finished wall-mounted display units. Sporting a cage-style design, this is the perfect spot to display all the artefacts that deserve a special place in the home. Since the foyer is a long passage, Vidhi broke it up and gave the couple two shoe racks that have a marble finish at the back, that blends with the living room.

A Trendy Dining Experience

House design

House design

Extending the feel of the living room, the dining room is dressed in the same kind of fabrics and colours. A bench on the side and chairs on the other, make this dining table, ideal for a family of five. The brass finish makes its way to the the angular legs of the dining table too. A marble top for the table and an bronze mirror-finish accent wall complete the look.

A Sneak Peek of the Pooja Room

House design

Amit and Ami deserve all the credit for coming up with the design for their pooja room. They already had this design in mind and were very particular about it. We can see why! Vidhi, on her part, executed their design flawlessly and gave them exactly what they wanted. The MDF jaali door, painted in oxidised silver looks absolutely stunning!

A Trendy Modular Kitchen

House design

House design

House design

House design

The kitchen in this home did not undergo any major changes, except for the wall units, backsplash and a few modules. The Sanghvis had an equipped kitchen and they did not want move things around too much in this space. So Vidhi gave them Moroccan tiles in the backsplash that act as highlighters, and wall units with frosted glass shutters for added storage. The rolling shutter cabinet takes care of their appliances.

A Kingly Master Bedroom

House design

House design

The clients wanted everything to be fully upholstered in the bedroom, from the bed to the side tables. Beige is the chosen colour, since steel is used for the wardrobe and wood for the floor, so it matches perfectly. This room looks very stylish and elegant, and the full size headboard just adds to the beauty of it!

House design

One striking feature of this room is the corten steel-finish accent wall that stands beside the bed. The cubic design adds geometric charm to the room. This is something that Amit Sanghvi deals in, and he wanted to use this material in his home. It just looks lovely and fits right in!

The Walk-in Dressing Area

House design

House design

House design

The walk-in area in this room was born after utilising half the space from the kitchen area. This was a specific requirement by the clients and Vidhi could not go wrong with it. The glass panelled shower area gives the bathroom a hotel-like feel and the wash basin sports a marble countertop. The 3D tiles used in the niches of the shower cubicle, to store toiletries, act as a the perfect backdrop. We think this space is stunning! It’s the perfect way to wrap up this Mumbai house design.

House design

“The Sanghvis came with a very basic brief and they were open to designs and colours. They had superb inputs for some of the areas at home and I was more than happy to execute it. For other spaces, they gave me complete freedom to use my skills and expertise. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this one!”

A 200 Sqft Goregaon Kitchen Gets a Facelift

This modern kitchen is a wonder in wood and white!

Modern kitchen

Who livs here: Sanjay Dosi with Kavita Dosi and two kids

Location: Mahindra Eminente, Goregaon West, Mumbai

Size of kitchen: 200 sq ft approx.

Design team: Interior Designer Hansika Mota with Quality Manager Ramesh Parmar

Livspace service: Modular kitchen design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

Oftentimes when designers take on the task of remodelling an old kitchen into a modern space, it becomes exceedingly important to give it a fresh look and make it equipped to handle the current needs of the family. When our clients, Sanjay Dosi and his wife Kavita, approached Livspace to redo their spacious kitchen in Mumbai, they had a definite design in mind. Coming from an artistic background, Kavita was very particular about having certain elements of design in her kitchen.

So, Hansika Mota, our designer, took over and what was the result, you ask? A truly original space that has the best of modern sensibilities and optimum storage. Scroll down to look at the kitchen design and learn more about thoughtful designs.

Before and After

A Parallel Layout

Modern kitchen

Let’s take you through this masterpiece of a modern kitchen in Goregoan West, that was born as a result of careful consideration. A spacious parallel kitchen with an L-shaped wet area that leads to more storage space is what we are talking about.

Being just a simple parallel kitchen before the renovation, did not give our clients optimum working space. Hansika cleverly broke down the space and designed it in a way that looks stylish and ranks high on functionality as well.

Modern kitchen

Modern kitchen

As soon as you enter this kitchen, you are bound to notice the step-like worktop in front of you. This was something unique that the client wanted for her kitchen and Hansika ensured she delivered the same. The hob area sports back-painted glass on the wall units and white acrylic finish on the base counterparts. The step-like design acts as an efficient prep zone, with big drawers and cabinets for storing utensils. An open shelf makes space for spices, tea, coffee and other items that need to be easily accessed.

Modern kitchen

Storage and Corner Utilisation

Modern kitchen

This open storage unit is another unique factor in this kitchen. Kavita wanted this particular style of display-cum-storage for her kitchen, where she could display all her pretty crockery and spices. Finished in dark laminate and sporting varied sizes of shelves with closed cabinets for crockery, this area stands out in the kitchen.

Modern kitchen

The wet area in this modern kitchen is something that the couple wanted to include in their new layout. So, Hansika decided to give them this L-shaped counter with the sink and a cabinet for the Aquaguard unit. This cabinet also houses their appliances like the microwave and oven. With seamless soft push cabinets, this kitchen is a dream to work in. This area leads to a passage with a lot of storage cabinets which Kavita uses to store most of her extra stuff that’s lying around.

Modern kitchen

“Sanjay and Kavita had specific requirements and they were very clear about what they wanted in their kitchen. I just worked around those ideas and gave them what they wanted. It was a pleasure to design for this family!”

Minimalist Interiors at Sprawling Legacy Estilo Apartment

A lush Bengaluru home with a white and minimalist theme to deck up the space.

house images

Who livs here: Lakshmi VJ with her husband V Joseph and daughter Rebecca Renee

Location: Legacy Estilo, Doddaballapur Road, Bangalore

Size: 2 BHK spanning around 2,400 sqft.

Design team: Interior Designer Uma Kari with Quality Manager S Karthik Babu

Livspace service: Full Home Design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

An interior decor enthusiast, Lakshmi was keen on sprucing up the interiors of her apartment in Legacy Estilo. However, her ideas and notions needed the support of a designer, in terms of the technical and functional inputs. Thus, she and her husband V Joseph, looked for a professional to help translate their ideas into reality.

The sprawling 2,400 sqft apartment is a large palette and dream space for any interior designer to decorate. Despite meeting many designers, they still were unsure of the quality and expertise they could expect. However, when they approached Livspace and were able to scrutinise the finished products on display at the Design Centre in Bengaluru, their doubts were put to rest. Their designer, Uma Kari, was able to lend her technical knowledge to create a beautiful design for their home.

Humble Entrance

house images

The foyer has a stunning yet simple backlit panel that brandishes different deities — a representation of the religious harmony in the family. Warm and welcoming, this gives a glimpse of what’s in store inside.

A Spacious Treat

house images

As you move on into the living-cum-dining room, what you’ll see is a spacious zone with elegant decor. Here again, many effigies of Mother Mary, Ganesha and Radha Krishna welcome visitors and hold their beliefs of this household in high regard.

house images

The interiors are dominated by whites and dotted with the warmth of browns. The wave-patterned 3D board is the highlight of the living room giving it a subtle but stylish look. The L-shaped leather sofa is inviting and can tempt you to sink and lounge.

house images

Uma has introduced clean lines and neat storage options to keep the space airy and bright. A stark contrast is introduced with a dark grey wallpaper to visually balance the feel of the room. A simple white panel behind the TV conceals wires and helps maintain an uncluttered look.

house images

The room incorporates luxurious details — from a plush sofa to the glossy centre table to striking wall treatments. Also, this beautiful room opens out to a breezy balcony set up for coffee breaks.

A Colourful Break

house images

Inching away from the minimalist and neutral scheme, the balcony thrives on colours — red furniture, colourful planters, a mix of indoor plants, green turf and pebbles. Nets in the balcony keep pigeons at bay while still letting in the fresh air. What a refreshing cocoon.

Carefully Selected

house images

The design for every room highlights one important detail – the spaciousness of it all! White pervades the dining room design, with a dining set that spells understated opulence. For those who adore minimalist yet luxurious themes, this is a worth a second glance.

Stylish Design

house images

The couple loved the acrylic kitchen on display at our design centre and so the same design finds it place here. A mix of cherry red and metallic grey, the colour palette is a welcome break from the neutrals at home. Sleek, stylish and spacious — the kitchen is a perfect blend of functionality and beauty.

house images

To make it appear spacious and bright, Uma broke down the utility wall that divided the space and gave it a pristine white backsplash as well. This doesn’t just makes it easy on the eyes, but also adds space to the pretty pooja room, a mandatory addition on Lakshmi’s mind.

The Divine Corner

house images

house images

A scene from epic Hindu literature has been etched on the pooja room’s glass door, which invokes reverence while the intricate jali partition gives it the necessary division from the kitchen.

house images

Designs of peacock feathers beautify the jali whereas the edges feature graceful tendrils — a perfect design to match the pooja room’s ambience.

Subtle Elegance

house images

A minimalist theme is an interesting backdrop to play with stunning textures and colours. A stone-finish wallpaper forms the highlight of the master bedroom while a leatherette headboard brings in warmth.

house images

A white membrane and mirror sliding wardrobe take up the opposite wall. “Although the bedroom is large, the furniture and accessories tend to crunch the space. Thus, a white theme and mirrors have been introduced to help give it a spacious look,” says Uma. The wardrobe also has a built-in TV unit and dressing unit, making it easier for the couple.

Love of Neutrals

house images

The daughter’s bedroom, on the other hand, takes on a grey colour scheme. The mirrored door wardrobe, while making the room look substantial, also doubles as a dresser too. The wall-to-wall wardrobe gives enough storage and the sliding mechanism is a space-saver!

“ The whole process was a great learning experience for me and with the support of the design managers and the installation crew at Livspace, we were able to pull off a great job.”

Ajmera i-Land Home in Mumbai Gets Cheery Interiors

Accentuated with pops of colours, this Mumbai home is every bit as lively as its inhabitants.

interior designer

Who livs here: Kavita Sonawane with her husband Datta and daughter Siddhi

Location: Ajmera i-Land, Wadala East, Mumbai

Size: A 2 BHK home spanning 860 sqft

Design team: Interior designer Pooja Shah with Project Manager Salman Shaikh

Livspace service: Full Home Design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

Kavita Sonawane and her husband Datta are a vivacious couple, who are doctors by profession. They wanted an interior design company to take the full ownership of interiors — from design to execution — of their 2BHK at Ajmera i-Land, Mumbai. Thus, they approached Livspace and met designer Pooja Shah.

The only requirement was that the home shouldn’t be a replica of their previous abode which had wooden tones and warm colours in abundance. Pooja had been given a free hand in designing and the couple never doubted her ability to pull off a great design. Pooja, in turn, tried to match the couple’s lively personalities with pops of colour in the rooms and different themes.

A Touch of Boho

interior designer

Airy and beautiful, the living room has a contemporary theme with a Boho flavour, evident in the choice of curtains, cushions and pouf! The white wall acts as a perfect backdrop to accentuate the colours in the room.

interior designer

A mustard yellow sofa stands out, looking all comfy and providing ample seating in the room. However, to ensure this doesn’t feel visually heavy, a sleek centre table has been chosen.

interior designer

interior designer

Clean lines and compact designs ensure you have a clutter-free and spacious layout, much like this living room. This entertainment unit is a blend of smart storage and display options. The overhead display unit allows them to exhibit their souvenirs. As you can see, the room also opens out to a narrow balcony where a bar unit has been provided.

interior designer

The balcony is simple with wooden flooring which is comfortable to sit on and spend some time.

The European Influence

interior designer

interior designer

The dining furniture just reminds us of a European style cafe in white and wood with a chic design. Separated from the living room with a stylish jali partition, the room takes on a breezy look, which is also accentuated with a vivid painting of Buddha. A pass-through window has been provided to facilitate easy communication from the kitchen.

interior designer

There are numerous options to display memorabilia like open shelves of the crockery unit, the wall-mounted shelves and the glass shelves in the pass-through window. The crockery unit design is basic with a combination of open shelves and closed cabinets. The latter holds all the crockery and glassware for dinner time!

Floral Charm

interior designer interior designer

A navy blue wallpaper dotted with florals adorns the master bedroom. Kavita loves floral prints and getting the pattern for her room was a reason for excitement. Simple furniture sets ensure the space doesn’t appear spacious, with light wood finishes to complement the overall aesthetics.

interior designer

A two-door sliding wardrobe with a compact shelf unit finds its place in the room. A mirrored shutter also doubles as a dressing unit and makes the room look spacious as well.

interior designer

Tone-on-tone technique on the wooden furniture gives it a stylish look with different wood tones used for a single storage unit. We love how the unique knobs and handles give it an eccentric look.

Warm and Contemporary

interior designer

The daughter’s room is dressed is a modern theme with a sea of white with dashes of colourful furnishings — cherry purple upholstery, multi-coloured frames for the wall and vibrant curtains. Also, the geometric wallpaper adds patterns to the room to bring out a visual balance.

interior designer interior designer

A four-door hinged wardrobe with lofts has been provided with internal storage divided into shelves, hanging units and drawers so that storage is easy.

interior designer

Although the room is compact, it has enough storage. With an entertainment unit and a compact study fitted into it, Siddhi will want for nothing! We also love the ladder unit on the wall which lends a charm to the room.

interior designer

“The couple wanted something different from the conventional looks they usually see. They gave me complete freedom in designing. Thus, it was easy to finalise and execute the home design in a span of three months. The dining room is my personal favourite in the whole home.”

Who livs here: Nikhil Maheshwari with his parents Sanjay and Sadhana and sister Priya

Location: Kanakia Aroha, Borivali East, Mumbai

Size of home: 2 BHK spanning 600 sq ft approx.

Design team: Interior Designer and Quality Manager Bijal Bhayani

Livspace service: Full home design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

Moving from Churchgate to Borivali was a conscious decision made by Nikhil Maheshwari and his family. They wanted a spacious home for their family of four and Kanakia Aroha apartments just fit the bill! Being an entrepreneur gives Nikhil very little time to dedicate solely to designing their home. Thus, while looking for end-to-end interior design services, they contacted Livspace and they took off from there!

Bijal Bhayani, Interior Designer at Livspace, took up the task of designing this beautiful home for the beautiful family. Once you step into this home, cool blues and warm beiges welcome you. As you take a look around, you will find out just why we are in love with this abode. Modern design sensibilities collide with a contemporary setting, to give birth to this masterpiece.

Beauty in the essentials

House designs

When Bijal met Nikhil and his family, she understood that they do not want any loud colours at home. During design discussions, they were always inclined towards neutral colours. When you enter this home, you are greeted by a simple living room, that houses a two-seater sofa-cum-bed, a chaise and two accent chairs. The back of the sofa rolls back to convert into a bed, which is very functional when they have guests over.

House designs

The family wanted to give their living room a traditional touch, so they chose this lovely floral wallpaper in grey for one the walls. It acts as a beautiful accent wall and matches with the neutral theme of the home. The centre table is a glossy white piece with drawers and a shelf that can hold books and magazines.

House designs

The wall behind the television has a lovely marble texture and a pretty jaali panel beside it. The wall-mounted TV unit plays match with the centre table and saves up floor space, making it easy to clean. It features cabinets and shelves for the set-top box, remotes and more!

The family that eats together…

House designs

House designs

The dining room in this home proves that a basic dining set is the only prerequisite to enjoying meals together. No elaborate setting, no fancy crockery unit, just some ledges on the wall, to display artefacts. The only striking feature of this space is the lattice pendant lights that provide a warm ambience for mealtimes!

House designs

A Blooming Master Bedroom

House designs

House designs

The only room in this entire home, that has some pop of colour, thanks to Bijal, is Nikhil and his sister’s bedroom. They allowed Bijal to experiment with this room a little, when it came to colours. Bijal put on her creative cap and introduced a dash of red in this room, with the upholstered headboard. The bronze finish wooden beading on the wall, adds a hint of uniqueness to this room.

House designs

Nikhil also wanted a bench in front of the bed, which Bijal happily gave in the same colour as the headboard. As far as the wardrobes are concerned, a cream-coloured sliding wardrobe finds place here, with lofts for extra storage. The dressing unit is simple, with a mirrored shelf to store cosmetics and a wall-mounted unit with a drawer for the rest of their accessories.

Neutral Overtones

House designs

The parents’ bedroom is as simple as it can get. With warm wood tones and whites all around the room, this space feels like a comfortable abode. With a button-tufted headboard in a delicious shade of latte, and basic hinged wardrobes, this room is packed with necessities and then some for the parents.

House designs

“It was very easy to work with this family, since they had minimal requirements and knew what they wanted. Decision-making was quick and they trusted me with designs and colours. I enjoyed working on this one!”

This is not the only neutral theme home in Mumbai. If you loved what you saw here, then you cannot miss this grey home! You will love what the designer has done with this magical colour.

Don’t we all dream of that cosy home with a touch of luxury? Pankaj’s beautiful 4 BHK duplex at Vasant Kunj is spacious, with beautiful wall accent walls that adorn every room — each unique. White has been used liberally in the house design with little wooden notes for a warm feel.

Livspace designer Rohit Chaudhary ensured there is a personalised corner in every room for the family members to relax. We love how the interiors feel homely despite its grand outlook.

Luxe Touch

house design

The spacious living room has been made welcoming with its blue and white palette and comfortable seating options. The geometric patterned wallpaper adds character to the room. Bringing in warmth, the wooden panelling gives a fabulous contrast. Rohit added a touch of luxury with a golden wallpaper on the false ceiling.

Two comfortable Chesterfield sofas send out a cosy invite to relax and lounge after a long day. It also provides ample seating for visitors while utilising the space optimally.

A sleek TV unit occupies the opposite wall with symmetrically placed shelves for easy display. The stylish but sturdy centre table completes the look.

As there was no foyer, Rohit added a lounge chair with a footstool to separate the entrance from the living room. This was a smart move, as a partition would have blocked the smooth flow of the house design.

Subtle Elegance

The dining room design is minimal with a glass top dining table, chartreuse-coloured upholstered chairs, and a crockery unit. A gold-toned metallic accent adds a glamorous finish to the setting.

A Bold Move

One of the bedrooms was converted into an entertainment room for the family to enjoy some downtime together. This dramatic lounge with comfortable seating and fiery wallpaper has a warm and adventurous feel. We are in awe of the unconventional colour scheme which only a few dare to attempt. Topped with a marble top centre table and a plush blue rug, the place is surely fun to hang out in.

A Humble Dwelling

house design

A compact pooja unit is provided below the stairs with beautiful jali work on the doors. The carved design gives it a divine attire and invokes reverence at sight.

Monochromatic Palette

house design

Neutral hues dominate Pankaj’s room which offers a soothing ambience. Use of black, white and grey in abundance brings the look together.

house design

Adding warmth to the monochromatic room is the wooden TV unit. Wooden tones are an appeasing sight and a beautiful contrast to the muted theme.

house design house design

The room also houses a compact study within a small extension of the room. This simple setup holds just a table, chair and shelf to stock essentials.

house design

A gallery wall with the family’s portraits adorns the wall in the passage leading to the parents’ room. A muted graphic-printed wallpaper acts as a perfect background to highlight the pictures.

Peaceful & Pleasant

house design

The parents’ room has cool blues and whites for a calm and serene setting. With minimal furniture and an eye-soothing palette, this is the perfect design for the elderly couple to relax and lounge

house design

Since both are avid readers, a compact niche with cosy seating and shelves to form a stunning reading corner. Wouldn’t you like to try this out in your home?

house design

Here as well, wooden panelling adds warmth to the room. Whites pervades the setting to give it a spacious and airy feel.

Pop of Colour

house design house design

The guest room has a lively feel with brilliant prints that stand out. We love the contemporary look which the striated, black and white headboard gives the room. While pristine white rules the room, wooden tones in the form of furniture, wardrobe and flooring offer a beautiful contrast.

house design

The Acacia finish of the two-wardrobe uplifts the light tones of the room. Basic internal accessories extend storage to the guests. A love seat beside the wardrobe is comfy and handy to pass time in.

house design

“It was a great experience working with Pankaj and his family. I had to combine the tastes of the whole family to give it personal touch. The final look is beautiful and I love the living room because it captures their preferences perfectly.”

When we got talking to this light-hearted couple, there was so much that unravelled in a short span of time. From quick decisions to some amazing inputs from the wife, Rama, there was no stopping this chatty and very humble, retired couple.

Nestled in Jakkur extension, this villa exhibits unmatched interiors with travel curios displayed in almost every corner. We were floored by the beauty of this home and how they’ve decorated it, while paying so much attention to detail. So, right now, the kitchen is starkly different from the rest of the home and we love the fact the clients are ecstatic about their new space. We cannot wait to give you a peek into it. Read on.

A Spacious U-shaped Layout

Kitchen

In conversation with us, the couple told us how they wanted to change the face of their kitchen, and how the kids living abroad were startled at their decision. But, after taking one look at the designer modular kitchen, things took a complete u-turn. The spacious U-shaped kitchen, sporting bright cabinets and some highly functional modules, is the highlight of this address.

Modules that Fit in Just Right

Kitchen

Kitchen

When we got talking to Smitha Mole, the designer of this wonderful kitchen, she told us how she went about designing it like a breeze. Speaking about modules, the couple wanted huge tandem boxes and drawers to fit in all their huge vessels and pull-outs that would make cooking an enjoyable experience. Therefore, Smitha equipped this kitchen with bottle pull-outs, tandem drawers, d-trays and so on. Also, do not miss the roller shutter beside the tall unit with built-in appliances. It takes care of all the peripheral appliances that would otherwise end up occupying unnecessary counter space. We love how simple and functional this kitchen looks and feels!

Designer Tiles and Countertops that Look Classy

Kitchen

Kitchen

When the couple visited the Livspace Experience Center, they instantly fell in love with the wine red modular kitchen that was ready to be touched and felt! They knew that very moment that this is what they wanted for their home. The countertop is a classic Caesar stone in white, that breaks the myth about maintaining light coloured countertops. Smitha gave the couple a combination of open and closed shelves for the wall units and played around with cream and slate grey for the same. The backsplash sports Moroccan tiles, for which the credit goes entirely to Rama and Ramesh, for their excellent aesthetic sense.

Kitchen

Some things had to move around in this kitchen, one of which was the placement of the dishwasher. It finds place next to the sink, where it should ideally be. The height of the countertop was customised to make it fit right in.

Kitchen

“Rama and Ramesh were a very happy-go-lucky couple. Decisions were a breeze with them, since they knew what they wanted from the very first meeting. This was one of the fastest handovers by me, till date!”

– Smitha Mole, Interior Designer, Livspace

3BHK in Andheri Gets Warm & Luxurious Interiors

Wooden tones prevail in this home interior design, giving it a warm and snug atmosphere.

home interior design

Who livs here: Anita Palshetkar with her husband Ratnadeep and two daughters, Tanvi and Vaibhavi

Location: Vasant Oasis, Andheri, Mumbai

Size: A 3 BHK home spanning 2,000 sqft approx.

Design team: Interior designer Pooja Velhal with Project Manager Kailash Suthar

Livspace service: Full Home Design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹

Anita Palshetkar and her family, although residing in Hong Kong, wanted a home in Mumbai to welcome them on their eventual return. Being passionate about wooden furniture, they had curated different solid wood pieces, in the hope that their new home can feature their collection. Keeping this in mind, Pooja Velhal, their designer at Livspace created a plan to bring together all their interests.

Awash with wooden tones and accentuated with elegant lighting, this home oozes warmth and character. The spacious 3 BHK at Vasant Oasis, Mumbai, has been done up with intricate details to offer utmost comfort to the family. Every corner has been meticulously designed to accommodate all their lifestyle preferences including materials and functionality.

Playing with Patterns

home interior design

The foyer holds a bespoke storage unit with wood parquet patterns to give it an elegant feel. No one can guess that this elegant design is actually a shoe rack. The metallic knobs that adorn the unit were specifically picked to match the theme. A beautiful painting and metal drop lights complete the look.

Rich Comfort

home interior design
home interior design

The living room design has a comfy aura — with a plush leather sofa tempting enough to sink into and zone out by binge-watching shows. The spacious room has minimal seating options but still exudes warmth and luxury.

home interior design

The wooden tones find a place in the TV unit as well to complement the setting, whereas a chest of drawers — one of the couple’s prized collection — sits seamlessly on the side. Every element falls into place beautifully without distorting the design.

home interior design

The dining room has a lovely appearance with an all-wood look — from the furniture to the flooring and ceiling. Stylish pendant lights add to the glamour. A sleek and compact study with a high chair gives full view of the living room and is a pleasant setting to work in. It is also Anita’s favourite corner.

A Beautiful Contrast

home interior design

Anita wanted privacy in the kitchen when visitors are over, but not something that will cut her out completely from the conversation. Thus, a fabric sandwiched glass pane was used on a wooden frame to act as a sliding door. This isolates the kitchen from the onlookers.

home interior design

The modular kitchen has a subtle look in a wood and white combination. As the couple is fond of wooden tones, the kitchen also resonates the same theme. However, as it was a compact space, Pooja introduced white in the wall cabinets to give the space an airy feel. The backsplash is a combination of tortilla brown tiles and patterned tiles that highlight the chimney area.

home interior design

The backsplash for the cooking area brings together the colour combination while adding an element of interest to the space. The kitchen has a practical design with ample storage options. This includes lofts to stack all the utensils. A tall unit houses the appliances, while a combination of drawers, pull-outs and other kitchen accessories make the cooking experience a lot easier.

Calm & Composed

home interior design home interior design

While Pooja was more than happy to extend the wooden theme to the bedroom, she was more concerned with making the space feel airy and welcoming. Thus, beige tones were added while retaining the white walls. This mix has succeeded in making it look elegant and bright.

home interior design

Pooja deliberated her design choices for this room carefully as the room had rather compact features. A wooden wall panel with a mirror and small niches became the dressing corner for the couple. This saved space along with adhering to the builder’s restriction of not carving out the wall. Ample task lighting options — from reading lights near the side table, a drop light on the other end and a focus light near the dresser — add to the functionality of the space.

home interior design home interior design

Giving the wardrobe a champagne finish was another design choice the designer employed to negate the domination of wooden tones. A mirror in the shutter also makes the room appear bright and spacious. A sleek study and TV unit let the couple enjoy some peaceful downtime.

Beautiful Blues

home interior design

The daughters’ rooms drift away from the wooden theme prevalent in the home. It is a welcome break as the rooms look cheerful and lively, much like the girls. The elder daughter’s room is sophisticated with white and blues splashed across the room. The floral drapery, the wallpaper with leaf motifs and the stunning blue headboard with white furniture is a beautiful sight.

home interior design

The pendant lights that flank the bed on both sides give it a stylish boost. The furniture features sharp lines and a modern design that creates a streamlined look. This is the most compact room in the home and making it self-sufficient with enough storage was definitely a challenge. Yet, the designer was able to pull off a great design that is versatile as well.

home interior design

A navy blue three-door hinged wardrobe with lofts and drawers and a mirror gives the daughter ample storage and dressing space. The same shades have been used for the TV panel as well. The sleek TV unit is a perfect fit for the room, don’t you think?

Purple Haze

home interior design

home interior design

We absolutely adore the purple button-tufted leatherette headboard. It gives the bedroom a lush appearance along with a touch of elegance.

home interior design

The room also houses a three-door wardrobe with lofts and shelves along with a pretty TV unit with overhead storage.

home interior design

The fusion of purple and white works great in making the room appear airy and intriguing at the same time. Another console table procured by the couple finds its place below the TV unit seamlessly. A compact study also fits in beautifully. The hollow knobs give it the home interior design a modish look.

home interior design

“Anita wanted her home to have a lot of wooden elements and retain her furniture collection. We had to work the design around these elements, along with complying to builder restrictions. This made the process challenging and interesting at the same time.”

An understated but luxurious house interior decor in Delhi.

House interior

Who livs here: Molika Garg

Location: Vasant Kunj, New Delhi

Size of home: A 2BHK duplex spanning 1,500 sq ft approx.

Design team: Interior Designer Ranbeer Kaur with Quality Manager Anil Singla

Livspace service: Full home design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

When you’re living in a home and a particular area for almost a decade, you tend to get attached to it. Molika Garg, an independent working woman, feels the same way about Vasant Kunj, and enjoys the greenery and calm that comes with it. Thus, changing her home or the locality was not an option. However, she could get her home done up in a new and exciting way! A place she could come back to, after a tiring day at work.

While browsing through options online, she stumbled upon Livspace and contacted us to get a new kitchen design only. But what followed was a complete overhaul of her home. Ranbeer Kaur, her designer, convinced her to get her entire home redesigned and boy, does it look good!

In conversation, Molika told us that her newly decorated home is the reason the workaholic Executive Director at an automobile dealership firm, loves heading back home from office. We could not agree more!

A Simple Living Room

House interior

House interior

Don’t the lovely paintings on the wall grab your attention in an instant? Molika loves painting, and collecting art is one of her hobbies. Hence, Ranbeer and Molika picked up these gorgeous paintings, from Anyahh Art Gallery located on MG Road, and they found the perfect spot in the living room.

The paintings have a deep connect with her soul, and she tells us how the lady is a reflection of herself and the blossoms are a sign of returning back home, according to Feng Shui, which she strongly believes in.

Also, being a calm person by nature, Molika wants her home to resonate her personality. So, a muted colour palette was chosen for most parts of the home. The living room is sufficiently spaced out, so Molika and her friends can chill over the weekends. Tasteful cappuccino sofas are perfectly in sync with the beige walls. Together, they make this room feel huge.

Let’s Raise a Toast

House interior

After a lot of civil work, Ranbeer carved out this bar niche for Molika to enjoy some time off from her busy schedule. The glass brick wall is such an attractive background for the bar unit. She has also given her glass shelves to show off her exquisite collection of drinkware. Also, Molika’s personal favourite spot lies right beside the bar area, where she loves uwinding with her books and canvas.

House interior

A Kitchen that Extends to the Dining

House interior

House interior

When she’s not crunching numbers for work, Molika enjoys cooking for leisure. Her earlier kitchen just put her off and she decided to gift herself a fully modular version that has everything in place. With this in mind, Ranbeer worked around the space and included extra place into the kitchen to make it bigger.

Frosty white glossy finish cabinets make up the wall units and black granite adorns the countertop. Complete with corner units, tandem boxes, bottle pull-outs and drawers, Molika now enjoys cooking for herself and her friends here!

House interior

House interior

Her kitchen extends to the dining room, which has a simple glass top wooden dining table and chairs. Molika also wanted a breakfast counter in her kitchen, so Ranbeer accommodated one, where she could host parties with friends and family. The wallpaper along with the ceramic tiles and the wooden false ceiling sets that area apart!

A Serene Master Bedroom

House interior

House interior

House interior

House interior

Well, the master bedroom is designed in such a way that Molika can use it to relax and work, both at the same time. Since she loves browns and beiges, Ranbeer gave her a fully upholstered panelled headboard in beige, with motifs on the wallpaper.

The bed and the side tables are solid wood, which blends in with the theme of the room. The floor is not the regular hardwood flooring, rather, it is made up of wooden tiles. These are more durable and long-lasting. The small seating area is meant for Molika to finish up work.

A Walk-in Wardrobe for One!

House interior

House interior

Being the sole inhabitant of this duplex, Molika had the luxury of converting one room into an elaborate walk-in wardrobe. Soothing autumn leaf finish adorns it the easy-to-use swing doors, and make things super functional and efficient.

Vanity Affairs

House interior

The bathrooms in this duplex wear patterns in a way that they follow the theme of the home, strictly. Therefore, Ranbeer gave one of the bathrooms, very Rajasthani-feel tiles, just how Molika likes it to be. In the other bathroom, a bathtub finds place and a combination of brown, white and beige tiles create a beautiful pattern on the wall.

House interior

“This was one project that involved a lot of civil work and the space had to be opened up considerably. I love challenges and enjoyed working on this one. Molika was very specific about certain things and the rest of the designing and execution went on like a breeze!”

Best interior design details from tiny motifs to pretty wall trims adorn this Gurgaon home.

Who livs here: Sanjeev Kaushik with his wife Neha and two kids

Location: Central Park Resorts 2, Gurgaon

Size: A 3 BHK home spanning 2,000 sqft approx.

Design team: Interior designer Megha Kedia with Project Executive Jairam Kashyap

Livspace service: Full Home Design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

Influenced by their stay in Europe, Sanjeev Kaushik and his family decided to bring in the same warmth and elegance to their home at Central Park Resorts, Gurgaon. Despite meeting many vendors, they weren’t comfortable with the ideas proposed to them. Megha Kedia, Livspace designer, was able to put forth a design to match their interests within a span of two meetings.

The 3BHK is done up with beautiful elements mindfully curated to match the family’s bubbly personality. The interior includes many elements like wall trims, mid-century modern furniture, veneer finishes and wallpapers with beautiful motifs.

Fine Choices

best interior design

An array of decor elements have been picked out for the foyer, and they all come together in adding colour to the space. We specially love the birdcage chandelier that gives it a fun spin. The concrete and pistachio coloured shoe rack gives ample space to stack their footwear and one of the lower units doubles as a seating space to tie or untie shoes.

Dashing in Blue

best interior design

As you enter from the foyer, the right side has a stunning seating area. Giving the space a bold yet beautiful appearance is the cobalt blue wall with trims and comfy mustard Wingback chairs. A wooden console unit with tinted brown glass brings in the necessary warmth and balance.

best interior design

Spacious & Stylish

best interior design

The living room just beside the seating area takes your breath away. The ornate chandelier is the first to catch your eye in the elegant design of the room. Chesterfield sofas add a comfortable charm and beautiful grey wallpaper with flamingo motifs offers an appeasing pattern to the room.

Oozing with Warmth

best interior design

The home also has veneer finishes spread throughout the home in the wall panels and doorposts, infusing a warmth. The dining room is just opposite the living area with a marble top table and button-tufted dining chairs. The wooden panel serves as a backdrop for a TV which can be placed. So, the crockery unit below the panel doubles up as a TV unit as well.

best interior design

A display unit is positioned carefully to divide the seating lounge, living and dining rooms. It holds many souvenirs curated by the family on their travel trips.

Classic in White & Wood

best interior design

The classic white and wood theme pervades the kitchen design with Sonoma oak and white oak, giving it an airy look. Bevelled shutters add charm to the design while metal handles add an old world charm. The tiles for the backsplash add an interesting detail to the space.

best interior design

The tiles above the cooking area feature a geometric pattern with a pop of colour to the otherwise subtle colour palette. The compact space is optimally utilised with enough storage to hold the essentials. This frees up counter space substantially to use for prep work.

best interior design

The other side of the parallel kitchen features Spanish tiles with a stunning hand-painted feel. The tiles were extended to accommodate the space holding the refrigerator as well. The kitchen has been designed keeping in mind the kitchen work triangle.

Country Style Room

best interior design

The passage towards the master bedroom was lined with mirrors and a storage unit in the parallel niche. This acts as a makeshift dresser while covering the bare space.

best interior design

best interior design

This room is dressed in European country style with floral wallpapers, pretty trims, warm wooden hues and wall-to-floor curtains. Minimal furniture with muted hues has been used to highlight the accent wall. The graceful design punctuated with clean lines is a dreamy room to spend your time in.

best interior design

best interior design

The wardrobe has a chocolaty texture — brown and cream lacquered glass finish — that is drool-worthy and houses enough storage compartments for the couple to stack their apparels. The same colour combination extends to the TV unit but is in an acrylic finish for a grander look.

best interior design

A sleek study fits beside the TV unit with a purple chair for easy reading. We love how Megha was able to bring in so many elements without cramping the space.

Beauty & Grace

best interior design best interior design best interior design

The teenager’s room has elements that are so beautiful, the inner princess in every girl pops out. Nothing too childish, this room is a versatile design that we’re sure she will love for years to come. Minute details like the salmon pink headboard, the incandescent drop lights, a hexagonal gold framed mirror and gold polka-dotted wallpaper gives it a fairy tale feel.

best interior design

The room is also functional with lots of storage options like a bed with storage, sleek wardrobes, a study-cum-TV unit and wall-mount storage units beside the bed. A chest of drawers and the mirror have been inspired by celebrity homes.

Versatile Design

best interior design best interior design

You wouldn’t believe that this decor is a 9-yr-old’s choice. The bedroom has a mature look it with an exposed brick wall, a study niche and grey and white wardrobe. The builder had initially offered the niche as the space for the wardrobe which then turned into a study corner. The brilliance in this boy is worth mentioning here!

best interior design best interior design

The space beside the wardrobe has shelves so that he can display his prizes and collections. The design of the room is so versatile that we’re sure it won’t go out of trend anytime soon. To make things interesting, large metallic bottle caps adorn the exposed brick wall while a geometric headboard gives it a perfect contrast. Every element fits in seamlessly into the room, don’t you think?

Quirky Twist

best interior design

The master bathroom is breathtaking with Celtic-inspired handmade tiles embellishing the wall. The brilliant design pairs well with the rustic stone-finish of the cabinets.

best interior design

The other two washrooms also have unique tiles like Moroccan prints and white or peach hues to beautify the walls. The blue quartz countertop is an eye-candy which along with backlit mirrors has a stylish look. Each washroom features clean lines and sleek vanities to make it spacious.

“Designing this beautiful home was a thorough learning process for me as we started everything from scratch. The family is very cheerful and actively provided their inputs. Thus, we enjoyed every bit of the designing phase.”

Who livs here: Devesh Dadheech with his wife Shobha, two sons with their wives and grandchildren

Location: Woodland Apartments, Malad East, Mumbai

Size of home: 4 BHK spanning 2,300 sq ft approx.

Design team: Interior Designer Shalaka Shinde with Quality Manager Rupesh Kadam

Livspace service: Full home design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

Welcoming new bundles of joy always calls for celebration and more space. For Devesh and Shobha Dadheech, moving into a bigger home was a natural choice, since their family was getting bigger. However, this time around, they wanted their new home to look more modern and upbeat, as opposed to their earlier dwelling. Therefore, Livspace happened and there was no looking back!

Nestled in the prime location of Upper Govind Nagar in Malad, this property has exclusive apartments with the benefit of supreme infrastructure. Watch how Shalaka Shinde, the brain behind this stunning design, transformed every room with utmost expertise. We love how the home enjoys a good mix of quality materials and design aesthetics. Take a tour.

A Luxurious Welcome

Interior design ideas

Interior design ideas

Interior design ideas

As they say, the entrance to the house makes the first impression and should therefore look welcoming. Shalaka gave the entrance a lovely mix of exposed brick tiles and veneer panelling to create an interesting accent wall. Wooden rafters on the ceiling lend the right amount of warmth that this space needed. What is the utility of a tall cabinet in the foyer, you ask? Well, Shalaka learnt that Devesh loves playing badminton, amongst other sports, so this cabinet takes care of the shuttlecocks and racquets. The chaise naturally forms a part of this beautiful foyer and blends in with the design.

Royalty Drips from this Living Room

Interior design ideas

Interior design ideas

When it came to using colours for the home, it was Shobha Dadheech who was most upbeat about the idea. The living room looks stately with the icy blue Chesterfield sofas, upholstered in rich velvet. The royal daybed plays match with the beige textured wall, while the centre and side tables hold on to the veneer and marble from the foyer, to maintain continuity.

Interior design ideas

What’s unique about this living room? Well, do you see the cozy spot near the window? The Dadheech couple wanted a small work desk in some corner, away from the bedrooms. Devesh doesn’t believe in carrying work back home, so just a tiny ledge with a trolley storage unit and a chair serves the purpose. The TV unit is again a combination of veneer and marble, complete with shelves and cabinets for display and storage.

Plush Dining

Interior design ideas

Since the family loves to usher in natural light during the day, Shalaka decided to make maximum use of the same. She gave them a mirrored wall with veneer trims on all three sides and spot lights that create soft focus. Therefore, when the curtains are not drawn, light is reflected on all all sides of this room, making it look bright and shiny. Since the family loves dining together, an 8-seater dining table is the ideal choice, along with plush button-tufted chairs for ultimate comfort.

Interior design ideas

Since the dining area is vast, Shalaka decided to give them a super stylish breakfast counter that can accommodate extra people. There’s a functional crockery unit underneath the breakfast counter, which can be utilised to store all the exclusive cutlery. This is also the perfect spot for the boys to enjoy watching the game, while dining or lunching with friends and family.

Let’s Talk Divinity

Interior design ideas

The pooja unit in the dining area looks so divine, with jaali on all sides. Wood is the chosen base material and Shalaka made sure that she gave them a traditional style unit, exactly the way they wanted. A backlit panel behind the deity, automatically gives a heavenly feeling to this space.

A Green Escape

Interior design ideas

The family loves spending time in the balcony and they wanted a complete green area to sit and relax in. The view from the balcony is breathtaking and thus, this space deserved to be designed wonderfully. Therefore, Shalaka put a vertical garden, complete with potted plants and an artificial grass carpet to paint the balcony green, quite literally! The furniture is specially made to weather the elements and thus, is perfect for such a setting.

Interior design ideas

A Warm Master Bedroom

Interior design ideas

Interior design ideas

Interior design ideas

The master bedroom, that is used by Devesh and Shobha Dadheech, is one of the finest rooms in the home. Given the dark wooden flooring, Shalaka decided to give the couple, a glossy beige bed with tasteful brown tufted headboard. The wardrobe is a perfect contrast, with a light wood matte finish and loft storage.

Interior design ideas

The TV unit in the master bedroom is a complete storage solution for a slightly aged couple, to keep medicines and other essentials handy. The finish on the TV unit is same as the bed and it also accommodates the dresser in it. Plenty of drawers make sure that there is no dearth of storage in this room.

Interior design ideas

What a sight for sore eyes! We just loved this corner in the master bedroom. Since Devesh comes back from work early at times, he likes unwinding over a cup of tea, in this quiet corner, with his wife. Accent chairs and a coffee table are also great for bedroom seating. There’s plenty of space for everyone to sit and enjoy conversations.

A Cool Bedroom for a Young Couple

Interior design ideas

Interior design ideas

Interior design ideas

The couples’ younger son occupies the coolest bedroom in the house. Unlike the master bedroom that is doused in warm colours, this bedroom is exactly the opposite. This couple is inclined towards cooler colours, and thus, Shalaka gave them a slate grey theme for their room. The self-designed wallpaper, upholstered headboard and the matte finish wardrobe, all follow the same theme. This is one soothing colour palette for a subtle bedroom design.

A Cozy and Glossy Bedroom

Moving away from mattes, the elder son of Devesh and Shobha, has a preference for glossy interiors. Therefore, Shalaka ended up giving this bedroom a satin finish, fully upholstered headboard set against a rich textured wall. The wardrobe and the TV unit are in perfect harmony with beige and brown glossy finish cabinets. The TV rests on a shiny back painted glass panel and the same panel runs right through the centre of the wardrobe. This room has the right mix of warm woods and glossy finishes all in one place!

A Woody Escape for the Guests

The guest room is entirely what Shobha had envisioned it to be. She loved the bed from the Livspace catalogue and wanted it for the guest bedroom. Matching the bed, Shalaka worked around the design and gave the room a cheery floral wallpaper and drapes in chirpy yellow. A comfy yellow accent chair find a place in this room, and the wardrobe is finished in dark and light-shaded laminates. The TV unit features open and closed storage options to take care of basic storage needs for the guests.

“Given the huge size of the home, I had to do it justice keeping in mind the needs of the family. Every member of the family had a distinctive individual taste and preference, and catering to each one was exciting and challenging. That said, Mr Devesh and Mrs Shobha were very cordial and easy to work with. I enjoyed designing for this family!”

Interior decoration ideas for a Scandinavian home.

Interior decoration

Who livs here: Sunny with his wife Saumya

Location: Emaar The Palm Drive, Gurgaon

Size: A 3 BHK home spanning 2125 sq ft approx.

Design team: Interior Designer Simran Kaur with Project Manager Richa Bharadwaj

Livspace service: Full home design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

Saumya and Sunny were committed to having a Scandinavian design for their home. This stunning 3BHK in The Palm Drive neighbourhood has a spacious layout with large windows, giving it an airy and bright feeling. They approached Livspace with this key factor in mind, which our designer, Simran Kaur, was able to bring to life, using the naturally lit ambience of the apartment.

Dominated with white walls, natural elements, minimalist furniture and warm wooden tones, this home nails the true concept of Scandi style interiors. While this home might appear bland and sparse to onlookers, this is a perfect rendition of what the Nordic countries adored the most — less is more.

Minimalist Design

Interior-decoration

The couple were also insistent on carrying forward their existing furniture, which ultimately didn’t fit the new design style they adored. Hence, they ended up selling a major chunk of their furniture. The only pieces they retained included the metallic tree at the end of the passage.

Comfortable Touches

Interior-decoration

The living room is a parody of minimalist style. A comfy sofa set against the backdrop of a humble wall with beautiful trims and subtle light fixtures greets the visitors. The couple are taking it slow in building a beautiful design filled with elements to resonate their personality. Thus, many lighting fixtures, furniture and decor are yet to find place in the setting.

Love for Distressed Finishes

Interior-decoration

They also deeply admire natural and raw finishes. Thus, the home has distressed finishes, concrete and exposed brick walls in place. The dining room packed with warm wooden furniture and storage. The wall adjacent to the dining has a concrete finish with shelves accentuating it. The bar unit in specific has a sleek design with ample storage units to make it aesthetically appealing and functional.

Interior-decoration

This bar along with the counter acts as a fun zone to entertain guests in. Along with glass shelves, it also houses overhead cabinets and drawers below the counter.

Shades of Grey

Interior-decoration

Neutrals pervade the kitchen as well. The spacious design makes it easier to use the grey palette. Slate grey and ash grey finishes appease Saumya’s taste. Ample open shelves, frosted glass shutters are provided to make it airy.

Interior-decoration

The cream hued backsplash binds the look together while adding a lighter tone for a spacious look. The kitchen is equipped with fully functional elements from storage, hardware to appliances.

Interior-decoration

Cutlery units, bottle pull-outs, drawers, baskets, tall units and more make organising the utensils and cutlery easy. It also aids in making the cooking experience hassle-free as everything has a dedicated zone. Counter space is kept free for prep work as well.

Interior-decoration

Raw & Natural Textures

Interior-decoration

Interior-decoration

The master bedroom is serene with its all-white palette broken occasionally with a grey headboard, metallic lights and artwork. Bringing in a exposed brick wallpaper gives it a stylish boost. To amplify this, Simran has given pendant lights and recessed lights in the false ceiling.

Interior-decoration

A sleek study in the silhouette of a ladder is provided are a work zone for Sunny. He wanted a place to store his laptop but nothing bulky to take away the minimalist feel of the home. Thus, the drawer just below the table top can fit only a laptop and nothing more. It does perfect justice to the requirement and theme.

Sentimental Value

Interior-decoration

Interior-decoration

The guest room features a bed and three wall shelves that were presented to the couple by their parents. Thus, they were retained and Simran worked around these details to match the theme of the home. The result is an elegant design with wooden elements taking centrestage.

Interior-decoration

A simple three-door wardrobe with crescent acacia finish sits in the corner with a basic wall-mounted TV unit parallel to the bed. They provide a perfect contrast to the retained furniture and help maintain the balance.

A Humble Design

Interior-decoration

A modest mandir sits in the third bedroom which the couple can move as required. The self-standing pooja unit has incandescent bulbs to highlight the area with a subtle storage unit beneath for the pooja samagri.

An Ounce of Opulence

Interior-decoration

The master bathroom had a bath tub, which the couple knew they wouldn’t use much. Thus, it gives way to this stunning dresser cum vanity for the couple to use. Two storage units flank the mirror while a sturdy counter houses twin sinks and wall-mounted vanities.
