A European country twist with pops of emerald and turquoise in an open-plan layout transforms a small, kitchen.white bangalore kitchen design_open style

Who livs here: Ankur Sharma and his wife Sheekha Mehta

Location: Adithi Bliss, Gunjur, Bangalore

Kitchen size: 110 sq ft

Design team: Interior designer Nisha Singh with project manager Nagendra Babu

Livspace service: Kitchen design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹

For a couple unified by their passion for food and experimenting with different cuisines — their kitchen is obviously their temple. Step in Livspace designer Nisha Singh to open up their tiny kitchen with hints of country-style details and pops of emerald.

Armed with tonnes of Pinterest inspiration, Ankur Sharma and Sheekha Mehta were clear right from the get-go that white oak notes would be splayed across. Their excitement pinnacled when Nisha fleshed out the fine print with profile shutters, rustic handles and a breakfast counter that doubles up as social cooking spot when friends gather.white bangalore kitchen design_profile shutters

For someone who re-creates gourmet food just by tasting it, you’d imagine their pantry overflowing with spices, sauces and other staples. Nisha obviously worked meticulously with Sheekha, who spends most of her day whipping up delicacies in the kitchen, to plan for storage like overhead cabinets, open shelves, spice racks, Blum drawers and corner modules.

The beige wall acts like a blank canvas for the aqua green tiles and pops of turquoise to stand out from its neutral background.white bangalore kitchen design_U shape kitchen

Every other weekend, the couple has friends over who cook together. The spacious open layout and three-sided countertop allow them to move around freely. Barely a week or two ago, their pizza brunch was a smashing success.

The rustic handles with emerald beads give the white canvas a splash of quirk. All credit goes to Nisha for helping the duo pick every detail from the little handles to the large shutters.white bangalore kitchen design_Ankur and Sheekha

Sheekha says her new kitchen has inspired her to take up baking as a new career. Ankur also dons his chef whites, however, he prefers to cook along with telecasted recipes. Thanks to their open kitchen, Ankur can now labour over more weeknight dinners!

Sheekha and Ankur were such a pleasure to design for, especially because they were very clear about what they wanted. They really took time to think and finalise each and every tiny detail that went into their kitchen.

A minimalistic kitchen that’s fresh and friendly thanks to the alchemy of a dual-toned look.

L Shaped Kitchen Design

Who livs here: Dickson Gifford with his wife Subiksha Miriam, mom and one-year-old son Naythan Gifford

Location: Bren Palms, Kudlu Gate, Bangalore

Kitchen size: 90 sq ft

Design team: Interior designer Sangeetha Rahael Raj with project managers Mohammed Asif and Tejaswi Tulasi

Livspace service: Kitchen design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹

After consulting with multiple independent designers, Dickson Gifford and Subiksha Miriam fell for the oft-quoted and misconstrued notion — “modular kitchens are an expensive affair”. They were sure the costs would burn a hole in their pocket, until Livspace interior designer Sangeetha Rahael Raj proved to them that their L-shaped kitchen didn’t have to cost the moon.

Subiksha wanted a cooking space that was nostalgic of a good-old, 90’s wooden kitchen. To keep things minimal, Sangeetha contrasted frosty white wall units with base modules in American walnut.

L Shaped Kitchen Design

The L-shaped kitchen design embodies an effortlessly clean aesthetic thanks to the marriage of simple colours with natural materials.  The white glossy cabinets afford a superior  appearance and balance the more traditional woody hues.

L Shaped Kitchen Design

Replete with spice racks, corner units, wicker baskets and drawers, the kitchen is only minimalistic in aesthetic and not storage.

L Shaped Kitchen Design

The sleek Hettich handles offer hints of glam to the otherwise muted L-shaped kitchen.

L Shaped Kitchen Design

The lilac grey backsplash, which was provided by the builder easily slips into the scheme without too much fuss.  Its neutral matte finish moves easily from boring to clever thanks to the woven textured look.

For designers, it’s always tougher to cater to clients on a budget. But with the wide Livspace catalogue designing for the Dicksons was effortless. I could easily meet all their design requirements with cost-effective solutions.

When Garima proposed a brick wall design for the foyer in 3D, the couple instantly fell for it! A walnut and ivory hued cabinet with seating space was chosen for comfort and utility. The dash of color here beautifully balances out the soft, muted hued hues in the rest of the home.

Having lived in New York and Canada extensively, Rakesh Kumar and his family come with a rather minimalistic and flexible mindset. Being a frequent traveller, Rakesh wanted his new home to reflect the style and warmth of an international hotel decor, while as a family they were sure about wanting subtle shades that would turn their home into a personal haven and would be versatile enough to adapt to changing trends in decor. It’s their simplicity, warmth and family-oriented nature we have tried to project in their home decor as well.

The dining room features a stylish marble top dining table for family dinners and party nights. The crockery-cum-bar unit serves all occasions with extensive storage and display. The green and golden wall paper with Indian motif adds a glamorous touch to the room.

The sink-in couches blend with the decor, with the blue cushions adding a dramatic effect. The rich walnut TV panel complements the theme elegantly. The coffee table with stools is an smart way to add seating while saving floor space.

The master bedroom has been designed to be a calm and happy personal sanctuary for the couple. It has been inspired by hotel decor and done up in shades of beige and brown. The study gets tonnes of natural light and gives a chance for Rakesh to work without disturbing his wife at odd hours.

The wallpaper and soft furnishings used in the master bedroom are subdued and soft in its approach to lend a more spacious and airy feel. The brass metal handles on the wardrobes give it a touch of luxury while being minimalistic in approach.

Warm natural wood textures, a sea of white walls, dashes of green, spacious interiors and a picturesque view — this home redefines luxury with a global vibe. When Smita and Avinash, homeowners, approached Livspace they were clear that designing interiors is a one-time investment which they wanted done to perfection in the first go!

Our designer Akanksha ensured she brought her A-game to match their expectations in designing this 4BHK. The trio invested their time and patience to curate a charming design that reflects the family’s lifestyle and tastes.

Akanksha had received a clear directive from Avinash that the home should look and feel natural with industrial elements taking center stage. The result was a refreshing medley of raw finishes and modern furniture to infuse a homely feel in the rustic design.

This kitchen pays homage to Smita’s devotion to Julia Child. She did not want a perfect kitchen but what defined a baker’s lifestyle — something highly functional. The colour palette and layout of this kitchen were inspired by the legendary cook’s kitchen display at the National Museum of American History in Washington DC.

With the advent of modular kitchens, organised storage has become effortless! Having your essentials in easy-to-reach zones just made life simpler. In fact, this design just pampers you by not letting you stretch, stress or strain while you indulge in creating culinary treasures.

Homeowner, Subramani, was keen to get a new modular kitchen just like the others — practical design with standard heights. But when Livspace designer, Rachana, met the family, she was quick to suggest otherwise. She educated him on the design principles and modified all the cabinets to suit his wife’s height.

Kitchen with loft- window

A trendy two-tone palette adorns this kitchen with a fusion of Natural Fumed Oak at the base and glossy Peonia for the wall units. The tactfully designed niche holds the oven in place blending it with the kitchen’s flow.

Kitchen with loft - sink area

Lofts in the kitchen benefit in two ways. Firstly, it provides storage for heavy vessels and rarely used accessories. Secondly, it forms a natural cover for your chimney pipe. The modules are fitted with bottle pull outs, spice racks, drawers and shelves to store daily essentials and facilitate an uninterrupted cooking experience.

Kitchen with loft - magic corner

For those hard-to-reach blind corners, a magic pull out makes life easy. The shutter smoothly glides out, bringing the shelves along with it, fully utilising the space, but making accessibility effortless.

Kitchen with loft infobox

Refreshing and incredibly fashion-forward, the combination of champagne and brown shades add a warm, inviting feel. The handle-less drawers add to the flawless finish of the kitchen. The neutral beige backsplash fits in with the general colour palette and lets the other elements shine!

Kitchen with loft - hob

The beige countertop is sleek and glossy, being the connecting factor among the contrasting shades. The eclectic printed tiles highlight the cooking section and add flavour to the otherwise muted backsplash.

Kitchen with loft corner unit

The cutlery unit just below the cooktop holds essential spatulas and spoons. The Hafele-Blum tandem boxes offer easy handling with quality hardware and hinges.

“My experience in this field helped in creating a user-friendly kitchen suitable even to Subramani’s wife. He positively welcomed my suggestions and finalised the design in 15 days.”

Designing a first home is exciting, but also comes with its share of apprehensions. When the Maliks decided to get interiors done, one of their friends suggested Livspace. Once they met Chandni Aggarwal, their Livspace designer, all their doubts and anxieties were put to rest.

Neha Malik wanted her home to be unique and fresh — cheerful colours and durable furniture that’s easy to maintain. She was enthusiastic about getting a new look and different form, so she encouraged Chandni to come up with something special for their family home.

Chandni immediately knew that a distinct colour scheme for each room would certainly uplift the mood of the house and match Neha’s exuberance. The master bedroom is dressed in a rich peacock blue. Adding to this lush experience, warm wooden furniture with chevron patterns were chosen.

Striving to give a gender neutral room for both her kids, the room was daubed with poppy and lime green colours. However, Neha’s daughter loves pink and Chandni couldn’t resist the little one’s request!

The room serves as a playroom currently as the children are young. However, Chandni has made provisions for a furniture upgrade in the future. The accent wall is filled with cute decals to add life to the kids’ fun zone.

The purple hues and stylish stencil work lend a glamorous feel to the master bedroom. The glossy wardrobe finish makes the room look and feel airy. Topped with floral curtains, it feels like you’re sinking into luxury.

Neha’s personal favourite is the drawing room. Filled with florals and coffee colors, this room is fresh and inviting. Knowing they’d be entertaining a lot, they wanted to turn this room into the centre stage.

The couple just couldn’t get the floral wallpaper out of their mind. So they decided to design the room around it. Taking inspiration from this, Chandni chose other elements to complement the wallpaper — beige and purple sofas and curtains. The combination of sheer curtains with heavily lined drapes gives them the option to let in ample light and close it for movie nights.

As a working couple, the duo were quick at making decisions and finalising designs. The home has a bright look to it and it was a fun experience working for this project.

The hob and the chimney are ergonomically placed to maintain functionality in the kitchen for efficient cooking. Space has also been assigned for the fridge.

Bengaluru home interiors

Well, we’re not talking about Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but breakfast at the Menon’s is definitely going to be one to remember! Dimple says that the mesmerising view of the lake from the breakfast counter warranted a breakfast counter being put in.

The countertop is jet black granite, which gives the kitchen a glossy look and makes it easier to maintain. This streamlined kitchen is complete with essential accessories like bottle pullouts, cutlery trays and wire baskets. Functional and classic!

Bengaluru home interiors

The TV unit in the living room was carefully and intelligently thought out by Dimple. Menon, our client, wanted a unit that wasn’t too heavy on the pocket and the ply does justice to that. The wires are concealed, while the unit gets a sleek look.

Bengaluru home interiors

Why that open ladder unit you ask? Well, Menon wanted an open display in the TV unit and Dimple gave them this quirky ladder unit. It plays match with the storage counter below the television that houses the an open cavity for gadgets.

The master bedroom boasts of Acacia-finished wood laminate wardrobes that come with long sleek handles for easy usage. Extra storage is taken care of with lofts atop the wardrobes. Laminate was chosen to match the wooden flooring.

Our client insisted on having a television in the master bedroom. So our designer Dimple carved out a niche design for him. This kind of a TV unit saved a lot of space, and looks trim and stylish.

A medley of different themes that brings out the best storage options for the young energetic couple.

Who livs here: Aditya Deuskar along with his wife Rachana

Size: A 3BHK home spanning 1750 sq.ft.

Design team: Interior designer Divya D with project manager Pratik Doshi

Livspace service: Modular Kitchen and Wardrobes

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

When Aditya Deuskar looked for an abode away from Bengaluru’s chaotic traffic, Prestige Ferns Residency caught his eye. What it lacked was interiors to match its splendour and exude the couple’s personality — young and lively. Surrounded by lakes, the location was an oasis of serenity, giving us the opportunity to turn their space into something magical.

After going back and forth with a few designers, Aditya stumbled upon the Livspace Experience Centre when he was partying in the area. He instantly felt welcomed by the friendly and casual environment. Their designer, Divya D, took keen note of Aditya’s love for riding and his wife Rachana’s flair for painting while creating stunning storage options.

No sooner than Divya took up the task, she was surrounded by challenges pertaining to the builder’s restrictions. Not one to give up, she worked her way around protruding wires and messy pipelines to give them a home they would love!

A Warm Welcome!

young couple interiors

Since the whole home was dwelling on different themes, the couple opted for a rustic note in the living room. The stone-finish laminate had charmed its way into their minds. Giving the entire room a focal point, this entertainment unit is stylish, functional and impressive!

A Gourmet Kitchen Fit for Guests

young couple interiors

Their kitchen turns into a busy zone when guests are over. The spacious kitchen can easily fit more guests and also has enough counter space to act as a serving table. As people who love throwing parties, this kitchen is built to accommodate people, food and drinks.

Bangalore modular kitchen

The home looked messy with gas lines and wires at odd locations. However, Divya strategically covered them with a hollow module to make sure the building regulations wouldn’t be violated and the points would be accessible when required. Why let yourself be limited by building constraints when our designers can work their way around it to give you a more functional space?

Contemporary and Cosy Personal Space

young couple interiors

As a newly-married and vivacious couple, the duo wanted a contemporary look to match their lifestyle. Taking advantage of the light flooding through the balcony, Divya added a sliding wardrobe with autumn leaf finish and a full-length mirror. This not only solved the issue of space constraints but also amplified the light to make the room appear more spacious.

Wonder in Wooden Finishes

young couple interiors

Their initial plan was to add a four-poster bed to mimic the royal homes in ancient India but the plan didn’t unfold well, owing to the size of the guest room. However, the wardrobe added an ethnic twist to the room with a mystique walnut finish making it fit for royalty.

Easy Entertainment Zones

young couple interiors

While the couple has accepted the modern ‘Netflix and chill’ philosophy, their TV units have also adapted to this principle with its sleek designs, clean lines and no-fuss design. It amps up the relaxing quotient in the bedrooms without eating up any additional space.

young couple interiors

The third room was supposed to be a zone for the guys where Aditya and his gang could hang out. However, things took a quick U-turn when Rachana claimed the room as a Zen zone to paint to her heart’s content. The frosty white twin wardrobe adds to the tranquillity of the room.

Vanity Fare

young couple interiors

The vanities are classy with mystique finishes taking centre stage. The countertop and shelves add functionality to the space while the finishes add a contrast to the all-white washroom.

young couple interiors

“The design was fun and challenging mainly because of the restrictions of the builder. However, the end result turned out to be beautiful as desired.”

A journey that started with wanting to change just a bed in their son’s bedroom, led to a complete overhaul of the room itself. Harshad and his wife Manjiri wanted to give their son, Neil, his own personal space before stepping into adulthood. The walnut brown bedside storage units and the lift-up lofts have been matched with the wooden wardrobes that were already present in the teenager’s room. Harshad and Manjiri were very particular about Neil getting enough storage to accommodate all his needs.

Young adult's bedroom

Reading lamps and down lights illuminate the bed and facilitate reading at night. A mechanical engineering student, Neil would need a lot of light in his room so that he could study without straining his eyes.

Young adult's bedroom

Having dreamt of a cool study area like this, Neil can’t wait to show off this creative zone to his friends! We can see why! Our designer has put in a sleek study table along with stylish wall-hung ledges and a book shelf to make sure he has ample space for all his books.

Young adult's bedroom

The exposed brick wallpaper had been Neil’s idea. In conversation, Harshad told us that they were sceptical about it, but one visit to the Livspace Experience Centre assured them that this would be ideal for their son’s room. LED strip lights around the peg board and tube lights under the ledges light up this area perfectly!

“The Kirloskars were a very harmonious couple to work with. They welcomed my suggestions with an open mind and everything went on pretty smoothly with the project.”

Who livs here: An affable family of five

Location: An apartment in Vile Parle, Mumbai

Size: A 3BHK home spanning 1,600 sq.ft.

Design team: Interior Designer Rajvi Jhaveri with Project Manager Mahesh Yadav

Livspace service: Full Home Design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹

When a charming couple approached Livspace for their Mumbai home interiors, our designer Rajvi Jhaveri, took on the project with much enthusiasm though she was skeptical about their decision to buy a home in an old building. However, her preconceived notions took a backseat as she instantly took a liking towards the spacious apartment when she visited. There was so much natural light in the house, she knew this was a palette she would enjoy working on.

The Family Room

mumbai home

Apart from being spacious, the living room also has a great view! In cahoots with the family, she used beautiful beiges and browns in the living room to give their guests a warm welcome, while elements of blue were used generously to highlight the room.

mumbai home

Rajvi has given them a combination of a plush blue sofa, couple of old-school wooden chairs and a comfortable daybed — perfect for leisure time with the family and offers good seating options when guests arrive. Giving this set-up an edge is the center table that is a mix of wood and PU-coated tabletop. What a remarkable room to relax and entertain!

In a Nutshell

mumbai home

Even while they were out shopping for interiors, the children took to their books in a quiet corner. This inspired Rajvi to create a special corner for them to indulge in their favourite pastime. The tall library unit with floral reading chairs gives the room a break from solid colours and perks up the corner.

Families that Eat Together…

mumbai home

They decided to retain the dining table from their previous home as it fits into the space seamlessly and matched the brown and beige of the living room.

Heart of the Home

mumbai home

Inspired by trending bold colours in the market, the lady of the house was keen on getting a similar one. While yellow is considered a gaudy shade by many, Rajvi matched it with an autumn leaf shade with streaks of yellow to balance the aesthetics in this Mumbai home. You can see how stunning this choice turned out to be!

mumbai home

She also put in a smart tambour unit, a.k.a., rolling shutter unit to help them store all their appliances conveniently. The extra counter space beside it allows them to use the appliances without obstructing the person using the cooktop.

A Personal Sanctuary

mumbai home

The master bedroom has been given a balmy feel with warm wood and sultry orange shades. The family decided to extend the bedrooms to utilise the balcony space. As a result, the add-on space made for a good seating nook for to catch up on reading or with each other at the end of the day.

mumbai home

Our designer also wanted to add surprise elements to the room. So she used cool blues on the wardrobe to contrast with the warm tangerine furnishings. The wardrobe was also designed to hold a display in the centre for daily essentials, in addition to providing ample storage space for their clothing and accessories.

One for the Ages

mumbai home

The couple was sure that they wanted a design that was neither too childish nor too mature for the kids’ room. Rajvi, however, wanted to personalise the room for the kids. As a compromise, she designed two monogram shelves over their beds to hold their prized possessions while keeping the general vibe comfortable and fresh.

mumbai home

With at least a decade of studying to look forward to, Rajvi designed a study corner that could flexibly cater to the kids’ needs in the years to come. This zone also has a pinboard to add assignment reminders or pin up their artwork.

In Their Opinion

A Comfy Retreat

mumbai home

The parents’ bedroom deserved something special; our designer chose a wallpaper with a geometric design to break away from florals and solids that have become a cliche.

Vanity in Vogue

mumbai home

While the other parts of the home have employed buoyant colours, the bathrooms were kept basic and classy. The stone basin which is perfectly smoothened on the inside and roughly carved on the outside is the highlight of this vanity. If you loved this home, you’ll certainly enjoy the subtle shades used in this Mumbai home too! Check it out!

“The family was lovely to work with and were completely involved in the design choices and shopping outings. As a family that loves to read; I feel the reading corner is one of the best elements of this Mumbai home, something they would all enjoy equally.”

A combination of subtle shades with bold elements makes this a beautiful retreat for a family of four!

contemporary interiors

Who livs here: Suresh Kumar with his wife Sireesha Kumar, 11-year-old son Sumit and 8-year-old daughter Soumya

Location: Palm Drive, Sector 66, Gurgaon

Size: A 3BHK home spanning 1,500 sq.ft.

Design team: Interior designer Sahil Suri with Project Manager Arjun Talwar

Livspace service: Full Home Design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

For designer Sahil Suri, working with clients like the Kumars is a dream-come-true. In his words, they were “warm, fuss-free, approachable and gave me my space to create something they would like”. This family of four is warm, lively and showed immense trust in their designer, who from the word “go” understood their need for a simple, elegant space to call home. From catching up on design updates to shopping outings, this project seemed to have been a breeze.

For starters, our designer Sahil wanted to give them Modern Contemporary interiors that would boast of clean lines, minimal decor, warm and neutral hues with a few bold elements. With a ‘less is more’ approach in mind, he has managed to give them designs with a ‘form follows function’ perspective. And this seemed to suit Mr and Mrs Kumar just fine since they wanted a beautiful, calming retreat.

Wine and Dine

contemporary interiors

Feast your eyes on this dining room! The mirrored wall with the diamond pattern and pebbled edges add an illusion of depth and give the room an industrial chic look. Sahil added a floating false ceiling which is perfect by design and function, as it doesn’t affect the airflow of the AC vents. Furthermore, combination of blue leatherette for chairs, wallpaper and curtains adds to the dramatic setting.

contemporary interiors

It all blends beautifully with the beige marble flooring. Sahil also added a stand-alone shelf to display accessories and a side unit for crockery. We’re talking clean lines, reflective surfaces and a minimal approach that leaves us with a spacious-looking room! The contemporary interiors at this home is bound to leave visitors in awe!

The Warm Sanctuary

contemporary interiors

Perhaps the only change requested by the Kumars was the shades for the master bedroom suggested by Sahil. The family was certain they wanted warm earthy tones for their bedroom, so it was done up in brown and beiges — from the flooring to wallpaper and drapes! The bed has a tufted headboard in brown leatherette which is beautiful and easy to maintain. In addition to this, Sahil also gave them an entertainment unit with a panel, drawers and a bookshelf to complete the room.

Pretty in Pink

contemporary interiors

Mr and Mrs Kumar were very mindful of their children’s choices. Therefore, you can see how the daughter’s bedroom is tastefully bathed in her favourite pinks and whites — from the wall and bed fabrics to curtains and the chair. Sahil also wanted to ensure that the room would be flexible to her changing age and needs. As a result, the study is basic in white and space-savvy with a combination of storage and display.

Bathed in ample sunlight, the room comes alive and their daughter loves it!

The timelessness of wood on white makes it the safest bet in your choice of interiors.

Who livs here: Padma Arjunan

Location: Salarpuria Greenage, Hosur Road, Bengaluru

Size: A 3BHK home spanning 1,385 sq.ft.

Design team: Interior designer Prithvi R N with Project Manager Shankar Nandi

Livspace service: Full Home Design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

A spacious home with sunlight flooding the apartment from all corners is one of the reasons why Padma Arjunan fell in love with this apartment at Salarpuria Greenage. As a person who loves bright places, she asked Livspace designer, Prithvi RN, to keep the home as white as possible to retain its airy and spacious feel.

However, our designer knew white would amplify the light blinding its guests, so she chose to sober it down with warm brown and tan hues. The result was a stunning design with clean lines and a clutter-free home.

A Simple Welcome

flat interiors bangalore

The entryway was designed with a minimalist perspective and was fitted with a shoe rack which also doubles as a seater. The wooden tones add the much-needed punch to the appearance of the room which looks plain otherwise.

Lounge in Style

flat interiors bangalore

The whole design was done in detail from mirroring the plug points for space to concealing the wires with the panelling behind the TV. The bronze rims create an illusion of privacy without obscuring a view of the room.

However, the extravagant, oyster-like center table forms the center of attraction. With a natural stone to form a pearl, this enhances the charisma of the room.

flat interiors bangalore

Padma also took a fancy to the swivelling drop lights that fit the corner and creates an enchanting effect in the room.

Conversation Starters

flat interiors bangalore

While ochre shades adorn the dining room furniture, the guests are smitten with the white exposed brick wallpaper. Padma also sourced some Vietnamese paintings in order to do up this space.

Culinary Secrets

flat interiors bangalore

Padma preferred white for the kitchen as well and managed to source a granite to match the same. The slab was extended to form a breakfast counter near the dining room to serve and grab breakfast in a hurry. The lower cabinets have a Santana Oak finish while the upper modules feature a Mother of Pearl membrane.

flat interiors bangalore

The utility section was integrated into the kitchen to make it seamless and spacious. The move worked well with ample sunlight flooding the kitchen. However, to break the monotony and set the mood, various lighting options like spotlights, reflect lights, pendant lights, including Spencer lights in the cutlery tray were added. Handmade tiles account for an animated feel in the kitchen.

Bespoke Design

flat interiors bangalore

The master bedroom features an 18-feet lacquered glass wardrobe to fit in all her apparels and accessories. However, the room is still airy with just a bed and wall-mounted drawers for furniture. The addition of wooden flooring and the headboard panelling disrupt the blank look.

An Ethnic Touch

flat interiors bangalore

The parents’ preferred earthy and ethnic tones, much to the designer’s delight! She was able to play with colours and textures to give it a warm feel. Also, teak wood finishes add a traditional feel while absorbing the flood of light from the window.

A Rich Shade

flat interiors bangalore

The guest bedroom has a simple furniture with a walnut finish to add richness and the floral curtains add a spring-like feel to the room.

“Padma knew exactly what she wanted and I had to give it my best shot to meet her expectations. However, the process helped me explore my abilities as I experimented with new design details.”

When an interior designing enthusiast decides to get her home renovated, it caused a certain level of mayhem in her head. So many ideas, opinions and styles to look into! Livspace swooped in and solved this young couple’s worries. Our clients, Shweta and Arpit Agrawal, wanted to refurbish parts of their seven-year-old dwelling, and help came calling! A recommendation from friends led them to Livspace and their design journey started with interior designer, Rukmani Dialani.

What started with just renovating the kids’ and the guest room, resulted in a complete overhaul of the home. Read on and find out how this Andheri home took shape, under the expert supervision of Rukmani, with valuable inputs from Shweta, of course!

A Cosy Welcome

Mumbai home interiors

One step into this airy Andheri apartment and you realise the warmth the wooden finishes bring. A beautifully carved entrance door leads to the foyer which houses the multi-functional shoe rack in wood and white laminate. This in turn opens up into the cozy living room for this family of four.

For Your Inner Child

Mumbai home interiors

The living room is an inviting space that holds the jhula which catches your attention almost instantly! In a colour that complements the floor and furniture, it adds the fun element to the room. Shweta was persistent about getting a swing in the living room and look how that paid off!

The Devil is in the Details

Mumbai home interiors

The view from the living area is mesmerising. To add to the view, the pristine white walls and the plush outdoors from the balcony that make the house bright with happy natural light. Rukmani gave the Agrawal family white walls because they wanted their abode to look and feel contemporary and streamlined, instead of cluttered and boxy.

Show and Store

Mumbai home interiors

Shweta loves decorating each and every corner of her home with artefacts or collectibles. The TV unit in the living room stands out because it has an exposed brick wallpaper behind it and a wall-mounted, glass shuttered display counter underneath. This lets the family store and display stuff at the same time! The crockery unit, on the other hand, is customised to hold their crockery and display their fine China.

Moroccan-inspired Bedroom

Mumbai home interiors

The guest bedroom paints an idyllic picture in our hearts. It has a Moroccan-inspired wallpaper that the client chose after careful consideration. The bed plays match with the theme and has drawer pull-out storage on either side to sort out all storage woes.

Mumbai home interiors

Mumbai home interiors

Being avid readers, Shweta and Arpit were clear about having a study corner in every room. Keeping this in mind, Rukmani gave them a sleek wall-mounted study table with overhead cabinets. The cabinets have intelligently been given frosted shutters, so that the family can store books and some extra clutter, without having to compromise on aesthetics.

One for the Ages
Mumbai home interiors

Take a look at this fun space designed for the boys! Done up tastefully in blue, Rukmani has also given cabinets designed in the shape of lego, which happens to be one of their favourite games. The grills were pushed behind to make space for the window niche the kids could enjoy for reading or to just enjoy the view.

Mumbai home interiors

Arsh and Aarav have so many books and toys that Rukmani was in a fix on how to accommodate it! She designed a book storage unit that comes with many shelves, both open and closed. The glass shutter cabinets take care of their books, while the hydraulic cabinets in ivory, look after the toys.

Mumbai home interiors

We love what Rukmani has done with the ceiling in the boy’s room! Dreamy clouds are sure to make the kids feel like they are literally sleeping under the sky. The study table is as sleek as it gets and also has wall mounted open shelves for the kids to keep their book and nitty gritties.

“It was a bit of a challenge to design the Agrawal’s home since they had a very dark and clustered home. But, Shweta and Arpit were very clear with their requirements and open to our suggestions. They loved the end result and I am glad I could live up to their expectations!”

Who livs here: Jinal Morakhiya and Dhaval Morakhiya with their kids 10-yr-old Vinisha and 8-yr-old Prisha

Location: An apartment in Shantinagar, Nepean Sea Road, Mumbai

For a person who loves decorating her home, 10 years of the monotonous interiors was downright depressing for Jinal Morakhiya. After a discussion, the family decided to get their abode spruced up during their 3-month long vacation. They decided to revamp the kitchen first, however, the exquisite designs by Livspace made them opt for an overhaul of the entire home.

Livspace Designer Pallavi Goel took the onus of revamping the apartment to look more inviting and spacious. Since they were leaving on a long vacation, they zeroed in on the options in a day! While the task was overwhelming, our designer was able to pull it off with dedication and professional experience.

Casual Living

flat interiors mumbai
The living room welcomes you with soothing shades of cool greys and blues. A stone-like table strikes a poise in the centre of the room. While the couple generally stuck to whites, this room was a break from that.

Dressed in White

flat interiors mumbai

A marriage of modern and mid-century themes reigns supreme in the dining room. With moulded chairs paired with a sleek dining table in white, the combo fits in beautifully without feeling visually heavy.

Compact Yet Functional

flat interiors mumbai

The dual-toned kitchen is a compact space. However, the parallel kitchen has been revamped to fit two or three members at the same time now. The base modules are fitted with Autumn Leaf finishes while the wall modules host a white finish balanced by a marble tile as the backsplash. Sleek and stunning!

flat interiors mumbai

The beauty of the kitchen is that it houses all the vessels Jinal has with compartments customised to their needs. Even the refrigerator and the washing machine blend smoothly into the setting.

Dreamy Hues

flat interiors mumbai

The master bedroom is a spacious room equipped with a luxurious bed that comes with storage, a dressing corner and a plush rug in blue to balance the look. The teal contrasts in the form of wallpaper and headboard lend character to the room.

flat interiors mumbai

The mirrored wardrobes give the room a spacious feel along with brightening the space. Even Jinal’s friends are awestruck at how the whole space looks substantial with this change.

Pretty Pinks

flat interiors mumbai

The kids’ room is compact with space for only a bed. Yet, Pallavi fit in a dresser with shelves for the girls to get ready. The light pink tones keep the space light and appealing for the kids.

flat interiors mumbai

The wallpaper used is an ode to their love for travel. Pallavi added a wallpaper with monumental motifs. The sliding wardrobe doesn’t disrupt the room space which is essential considering space constraints. Also, it has pretty butterfly motifs to match the bright pink headboard.

Celebrating Simplicity and Smart Storage in this Mumbai Home

You won’t know how much stuff the Harias have, thanks to the smart storage in their home, courtesy Livspace!

Mumbai home interiors

Who livs here: Pratik Haria with his wife Jyoti Haria, their twins, mother and sister

Location: Hazari Bhag Apartments, Vikhroli West, Mumbai

Home Size: 1,000 sq ft approx.

Design team: Interior designer Janvi Mehta with Project Manager Sachin Satam

Livspace service: Full home design

Budget: ₹₹₹₹₹

When Pratik Haria was looking for a quick makeover for his Vikhroli apartment in Mumbai, he got a call from Livspace and the collaboration clicked almost instantly. What started with basic changes to Mumbai home interiors, slowly progressed to a major overhaul of sorts. Since the young couple was ready to welcome their newest members of the family, they wanted to wrap up the renovation as soon as possible. So we got to work!

Pratik, we discovered, loves refurbishing his home every few years! He loves change and Livspace gave them exactly what they were looking for. Read on and find out how Janvi Mehta used her magic wand to give their home a new spin!

Earthy Entrance

Mumbai home interiors

As you enter the Haria residence, you are welcomed by the sober and soothing living area dressed in earthy brown and green tones. This space has been furnished with a compact four-seater sofa, while additional stools and bench can be easily moved around for convenience. The sheer bronze and white drapes are layered to let natural light play hide ‘n’ seek!

Smart Storage Solutions

Mumbai home interiors

Pratik and family were very particular about installing smart furniture for efficient storage at home, since they have a lot of stuff that needs space. For instance, the TV unit has wooden slats in walnut brown and glass shuttered cabinets to hold the set top box. The best part about it? It has space behind it, which Janvi Mehta, Livspace Interior Designer, has intelligently provided. It houses the carrom board seamlessly!

The interesting jaali installation you see on the left has been installed to demarcate the pooja unit from the living area. The jaali pattern has been replicated on the pooja unit door to maintain harmony.

Just a Touch of Colour

Mumbai home interiors

The master bedroom has pristine white walls with matching wardrobes, side tables and bed. Also, the modular wardrobes are fully customised and have a touch of pink, which Jyoti loves! While the Duco-finished wardrobes have a high-gloss finish and look stunning, the nailhead trimmed headboard looks streamlined and provides the pop of colour the room needs.

Mumbai home interiors

Janvi has introduced purple into the couple’s bedroom, with a geometric-patterned wallpaper in shades of purple with matching drapes. Sheer white drapes add a dreamy touch to this room. In addition to this, the tall unit on the right corner is also a smart storage masterpiece.

Mumbai home interiors

The master bedroom is shared by the couple and their twins. Therefore, they wanted cabinets that could address the dual purpose of toy storage now and books later. Hence, Janvi has designed an additional wall-mounted study unit which can be utilised by the kids, once they grow a little older. As a result, the design stays relevant to their changing needs.

In a Nutshell

Mumbai home interiors

Zone of Contrasts

Mumbai home interiors

Since this room is shared by mom and daughter, we had to give it a makeover that caters to both their needs. While the subtle white and silver suits all personalities, the flashy red upholstered headboard makes for a fun addition. The laminated wardrobes and a hydraulic storage bed seal the deal here, much to their delight!

Mumbai home interiors

Pratik’s sister, Khusboo, loves the guitar and she insisted on having a dedicated space for her baby! Her wish was Janvi’s command! Check out the cabinet with LED strip lights underneath it which makes the room eye-catchy and attractive. Mom and daughter both have dedicated wardrobes and the neutral drapes complete the look in this room.

Heart of the Home

Mumbai home interiors

Their parallel kitchen has been given a modular twist with completely neutral cabinetry, keeping in tune with the rest of the home. The use of muted tones also make the kitchen look more spacious. With profile cabinets, bottle pullouts, drawers, open cabinets and frosted glass shutters, this compact kitchen has it all!

Mumbai home interiors

Did you know that 3D tiles are in vogue? Janvi wanted to make sure that she incorporated this trend in their kitchen. So the backsplash is entirely done up in the 3D tiles which looks groovy and symmetrical at the same time. It’s no surprise that we love this chic touch to the otherwise simple kitchen!

Their Experience

Mumbai home interiors

“The biggest challenge in this project was to redo the complete colour scheme and ensure the clients like the changes. In the end, they loved my designs and opened up to suggestions. I thoroughly enjoyed designing the Harias’ home!”
